Hung M Nguyen

Hung was born in Hanoi, VN to Nguyen Van Tong and Duong Thi Minh on December 9, 1937. He grew up in Hanoi before moving to Nice, France as a teenager to attend secondary school and then the Université de Paris. After graduation, he moved to the United States, first to Monterey, CA, followed by Fort Bragg, NC, before settling in the Washington D.C. area. While working in NC he met his wife, The-Loc Nguyen, when he and his guitar accompanied a friend to a party in D.C. They were married on June 25, 1966, in Washington D.C.

Over the years, Hung worked as a translator for the U.S. government, an import/export agent, restaurant owner, and ESL testing instructor for Montgomery County Public Schools. He had a passion for cars, preferably German; sports, especially tennis and skiing; and traveling.

Hung is preceded in death by his wife, Loc; his four brothers, Tham Antoine Joseph Nguyen and his wife Maria Madelaina Nghiem Nguyen, An Marc Andre Nguyen, Hoa Jean Rene Nguyen, and Hiep Jacques Alphonse Nguyen; brother-in-law Truong Manh Nguyen; and his parents.

Hung is survived by his sons, Hao Marc Nguyen (Amy Tenhouse) and Hau Michael Nguyen; grandson, Jenson Alan Hung Nguyen; sisters-in-law Anna Theresa Van N. Duong, Janet Chien-Teh Nguyen, Honovan Hyep, Phuong-Chi VuTien (Tien Vu), Mimi Nguyen; brother-in-law Luat Trong Nguyen (Kathryn Stacy); and many, many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Sunday, July 16th, from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at National Memorial Funeral Home & Memorial Park (7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA).

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Monday, July 17th at St Ann Catholic Church (5300 10th St N, Arlington, VA).

Burial at National Memorial Funeral Home & Memorial Park with a reception immediately following.
