Jeffrey Lester Hunter Sr.

Jeffrey Lester Hunter Sr. was born on December 31,1962 as the only son of the late James L. Hunter and the late Doris Jean Hunter in Washington, D.C. Jeffrey graduated in 1981 from Robinson Secondary High School in Fairfax VA where he played basketball and football. Shortly following high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. Jeffrey served honorably as a motor transport operator stationed with Alpha Company, 554th Engineer Battalion at Fort Belvoir, VA. Jeffrey was an excellent soldier and earned the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Army Good Conduct Medal.

Jeffrey faithfully worked at Giant Food for 27 years where he started as a meat cutter and lastly promoted to store manager. Jeffrey had his claim to fame being featured in a television commercial for Giant Food. There he met his future wife Carolyn. Jeffrey and Carolyn began their relationship in 2005 and officially married on April 21, 2017.

A master chef on the grill, cooking crabs and smoking meat, everyone loved to be at Jeffrey’s for summer cookouts and family gatherings. He also had a love of old cars and fishing. Jeffrey was a die-hard Washington Redskins fan. He was known for his dapper dress style and always “riding clean”. He loved his family and his grandchildren brought him great joy. Jeffrey came to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Carolyn M. Hunter; Sons: Jeffrey (Camille), Julian, Nicholas; Daughters: Jalessa, Pamela, Jessica; Siblings: Celia Cole (Edward), Kim Ellis, Eleanor Hunter, Jamesia Hunter; Grandchildren: Joshua Hunter, Lianna Hunter; Uncle: Clarence Tibbs; Aunts: Mary Tibbs, Patricia Clark (Robert), Geneva Williams; Mother-in-law: Martha Cabrera; Brother-in-law: Ralph Risco (Maria); Sisters-in-law: Carol Gonzales (Miguel), Deborah Risco-Dunlap (Neil); Special Cousins: Wanda Brown, Traci Melvin (Joe), Troy Jackson, (Deborah); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation for Jeffrey will be held Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.

A funeral service will occur Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.

A burial will occur Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 3:00 PM at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.

A reception will occur Sunday, November 5, 2017, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia 22042. A reception will occur Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.
