Juan Francisco Correa, Sr., age 90, passed away in Fairfax, Virginia on August 13, 2018, from natural causes. He was born on November 11, 1927 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico to Magdaleno and Margarita Correa. He was raised in Puerto Rico, but in the mid-1950s he moved to New York where he married his beloved wife Iris Maria Ribot and had two children, Juan Francisco Correa Jr. (deceased), and Soraya Maria Correa.
Juan Francisco was a Sergeant in the Puerto Rico National Guard from June 1952 to November 1954. When he moved to New York he began a career in Federal service working for the General Services Administration and subsequently the Small Business Administration until he retired in 1985. Juan was a highly active member of the communities he lived in. While in New York he led and participated in various organizations and civic associations. Similarly, in Alexandria he volunteered and served on various boards, civic associations, churches and other community activities. After his retirement he also volunteered his services to the Alexandria Police Department for approximately 10 years.
Juan will best be remembered for his quick wit, keen intellect and strong determination. His passions were his family, especially his wife and children, and his heritage. He is survived by many relatives, including his loving wife and daughter and his son-in-law Russ Oechsner. Juan will be laid to rest next to his beloved son, Juan Jr.
