Daughter of Donald and Thelma Whitney of Augusta, Maine. Sister to the late Beau Whitney. Survived by sister Jane Malinowski, Sheila Brennan, and brother Thomas Whitney.
Wife of the late Daniel LeClair. Her three children Terry LeClair (Stephanie), Michael LeClair, and Maureen LeClair Brown(Chris). Her four grandsons Jake Brown, Hunter LeClair, Travis Brown, and Trevor LeClair. She was an Aunt to six nephews and four nieces.
Judy graduated from Cony High School in Augusta, Maine, in 1961. As a cheerleader for all of her attending years, it was there that she met her husband of 48 years. He was an athlete of many sports at a rival high school nearby.
They were married in 1962 and moved to Virginia, where her husband, Dan, began his career working for the government, while she developed her lifelong passion for working with children.
She had all three of her children close together. As a child at heart herself, she thoroughly enjoyed having fun, celebrating every holiday, playing games, creating crafts, and spending time outdoors, getting messy and dirty with them.
She had a long career at Westlawn Elementary school that her children all attended. There she was, a clinic aide, a lunch lady, and a Kindergarten assistant. With all of her heart, she loved all three of these positions.
She was a huge sports fan of Washington Capitals, Washington (forever) Redskins to her and Boston Redsox. The biggest sports mom you could imagine, cowbell and all. Head of every booster club, scout leader, and PTA.
She loved listening to loud music, was the queen of crafts, and a collector of many things.
Judy loved people of all ages and walks of life. She would often say, “I know no strangers, just friends I have not yet met.”
She was a great friend to many, a mentor for the young, the volunteer you could always count on, someone you loved to laugh with,a mom of endless fun and ready to go anywhere at anytime. She was a one of a kind woman and will be forever missed by many.
A memorial service for Judith will be held Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042, followed by a reception from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
