She was born in The Bronx and grew up in the Washington, DC area. At 19, she married the love of her life, Jordan Himelfarb. She was a devoted homemaker and raised three children in Bethesda. She is survived by her children: Stephen Himelfarb (Anne), Daniel Himelfarb (Harriet Kerwin), and Nancy Chana Gimble (Glenn), along with seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. At the age of 44, she returned to college and attended the University of Maryland earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree and Graduating with Honors. She enjoyed cooking, yoga, bridge, mahjong, and was an avid reader. Together, with her husband of 75 years, she enjoyed traveling and cruising, winters in Florida, and spending time with family, particularly at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
A funeral service will be held at National Funeral Home in Falls Church, VA on December 12th at 1:30 pm. Followed by an internment.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
