I was a student at George Mason High School from 1985-87.  I was in the library nearly every day during Study Hall, and I fondly remember Mrs. DePasquale as the librarian.   I offer prayers for the repose of her soul, and I offer prayers and condolences for her family.

Dear Tom, Rafik, Lena and Luke,

Being able to spend a few days in Rehoboth with you a few years ago and chatting with your mom, mother-in-law, grandmother on the screened-in porch is a treasured memory, listening to hear talk with such pride about Tom's accomplishments from when he was in high school to that day in July. It is a gift to have a parent treasure their family throughout her life.  There were so many times in the 1990s and 2000s of Tom saying "I have to hang up now, my mother is calling on the other line" ..... Tom, you were always there for her and your dad from a child until having her move in and spend her life with you.  I hope as you gather close as a family that you know that I love you all....sending you waves of hugs from St. Louis.   Love, Marcia

John, Tom and Chip, and your respective families- I am so sorry to hear about your mother’s passing.  Nancy was truly a “grand woman” in so many ways, exemplifying the best qualities of the “greatest generation”. Nancy and Tony’s long term friendship with my parents was special, and meant so much to the four of them.

 I have a lasting image of Nancy etched in my memory of the way she mothered four rowdy young boys with a loving and caring voice and composure accompanied by a stern and direct demeanor letting them know who was in charge and that they better toe the line. That image brings a smile to my face.

I’ve just learned that Miss Nancy passed away. She was my Mom’s best friend, and I have so many fond memories of her. 


Miss Nancy  was lovely, kind, and smart, with a really dry sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.


A few years ago, Tom brought Miss Nancy down to St. Augustine, FL., to see my Mom before she passed. They squeezed a lot of love into that final visit, and I will always be grateful to Tom for that, and so many other caring things he did for my Mom. 


One of my most recent memories of Miss Nancy is that, when she was still able, she would face time me. I think she meant to contact someone else, but it was always a fun and sweet surprise for us both when it happened.


Tom, John, and Chip: I’m sending you and your families my love, and I’m taking great comfort in knowing that our Moms are back together again.



As a George Mason high school student, I didn't realize what all was involved in creating an excellent school library; we mostly wanted to sit on the sofa and talk when we were there.  Mrs. D. ran a pretty tight ship and we were quite intimidated by her disapproving glances as we laughed louder and louder.  Later in college I realized what a great resource she had provided for us and managed so well and I should have thanked her for that.
                 But I did thank her for being a good friend to my mother, Barbara Peret.  Nancy recommended my mom for her job at the Falls Church School Board and that meant so much.
               I hope your loving memories of Nancy, her kindnesses, and her sterling character bring comfort.


 During my first day at George Mason, Nancy approached me in the hallway, “I understand that you are Catholic.”  I responded “

“Yes I am.”She said  “Congratulations!”She then walked away leaving me perplexed.
