OBITUARY
Norman Rosenberg
15 April, 1926 – 19 November, 2020
Roads go ever ever on, Over rock and under tree, By caves where never sun has shone, By streams that never find the sea; Over snow by winter sown, And through the merry flowers of June, Over grass and over stone, And under mountains in the moon.
Roads go ever ever on Under cloud and under star, Yet feet that wandering have gone Turn at last to home afar. Eyes that fire and sword have seen And horror in the halls of stone Look at last on meadows green And trees and hills they long have known.
Roads go ever on and on Out from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, Let others follow it who can! Let them a journey new begin, But I at last with weary feet Will turn towards the lighted inn, My evening-rest and sleep to meet. - J.R.R. Tolkien

I have known Dr Norman Rosenberg since 1976, when as our Optometrist he provided my son an opportunity to see clearly, at 9 years old!
In the last few years, through LLI, I have been honored to know he and Lorraine as friends. He was an amazing man with a gentle spirit, excellent sense of humor, and kind heart!

I used to cut Norman's hair at the barbershop. So sad to hear of his passing.

Dear Lorraine,
Some of my fondest memories of these past years are from you and Norm with our LLI crowd -- attending classes, going to movies with dinner afterward, and of course, concerts at the Hylton Center, where we'd all gather in the lobby. LLI has been like a second family to me, and you & Norm will always be part of that family in memory. Your friendship has been a precious gift to all of us. My heartfelt condolences to you, and may God continue to bless and keep you.

Dear Lorraine and Family,
Thanks for sharing Norm with us. I loved his music and loved serving with him on the Prince William Symphony Board. He will be greatly missed. He was living proof of how music can always be a part of one's life!!!

Dear Lorraine,
We were deeply saddened to hear of Norm’s passing. You and Norm were in almost every LLI class we took during the past two years , and we even enjoyed lunch together at the Jukebox Diner. We will miss seeing and conversing with Norm in future LLI classes.

My memories of Norm include the wonderful suggestions he made to LLI for music programs and instructors. It was always so warming to see his smiling face and the two of you walking hand-in-hand to a class or an event. My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family at this difficult time.

I attended many LLI classes in which Norman and his wife were my classmates. I always enjoyed Norman's interesting comments and his enthusiastic participation in the classes. He was living proof that we are never too old to learn something new. I am so sorry to learn of his death. My condolences to his family.

Norm was such a joyful man with the most wonderful sense of humor of anyone I have ever known. I think I first met him at an Olli class and continued to run into him at LLI -Manassas classes. Actually, if anything was happening anywhere, He and Lorraine were there. He always had such a keen interest in so many things and especially in all things music and theatre. I believe that he and Lorraine must have seen every music and theatre event in the entire Metro Washington Area. I know, whenever I was at a theatre event in the area, Norm and Lorraine were also there.
He and Lorraine have always brought a delightful energy and a genuine curiosity to a room. I feel so lucky to have known him just a little bit. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace.

Dear Lorraine,
You are in our thoughts during this difficult time. Norm’s passing will bring many changes for you and we will continue to hold you in our thoughts and prayers. As some other friends from LLI have said so eloquently, you and Norm were a beautiful example of a loving couple. Norm had some great stories of his life experiences that he shared in our classes! He will be so missed. And so will you as I understand you will be moving to live near your daughter.
I will share a photo of his happy face as one of the poinsettia winners at our last holiday luncheon for LLI in 2019. May he Rest In Peace.

Dear Lorraine,
Thank you for sharing your wonderful partner with the rest of us. Seeing you and him walk into the Hylton or other LLI venue hand-in-hand, smiling and always friendly and enthusiastic has inspired many of us to hold our partner's hand and not take love for granted.
We share in your grief now, but also share in the joy that Norm and you have brought us. Thank you and peace to you and your family.

Norm was a true gentleman. He will be missed by so many. I loved listening to his stories about his World War 2 service, about music, about food. He was funny, interesting, intelligent, engaging, and kind. I will miss him so much.
