Paul Gordon Provance

Paul Provance, man of faith, the kindest soul you’ve ever met, beloved son of Bill and Gladys, loving brother of William (Marlene), Dave (Suzanne), Jim (Jenee), Juli and Jeff, and devoted father of Matthew (Renata) and Timothy went to meet his maker shortly after 6 AM on Monday, May 3, 2021 following a short battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth in November 2008. Paul was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Falls Church where he was a member of the choir. Paul believed strongly in assisting farmers in developing countries and spent several years living in Kenya with his wife, Ruth, teaching residents about sustainable farming. He also spent many years working for the United States Department of Agriculture monitoring crop production internationally. In his younger years Paul was a skilled break dancer and enjoyed acting. He was also a fan of music, with preferences ranging from Bach to Queen and Taylor Swift. In his spare time Paul enjoyed exploring other languages, specifically French and Swahili. He was an avid fan of learning new things. Paul will be remembered fondly by many people including his many nieces and nephews, the family of his daughter-in-law, Renata, and the family of his beloved wife, Ruth. The family would like to thank Dr. Neeta Ahuja for her care and support of Paul during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 9th beginning at 2 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 7426 Idylwood Road, Falls Church, VA. Friends may call at the church where the family will be present from 2:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Paul’s name be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at the address above or to Lutheran World Relief, P.O. Box 17061, Baltimore, MD 21297-1061.
