Mary-March 20, 1930-March 21, 2020.
Raymond-January 17, 1931-August 24, 2020
Mary was born in Indianapolis, IN and raised in Washington, DC. She was a graduate of Western High School in DC where she met her future husband, Ray. After high school she worked for the CIA as an Intelligence Analyst before marrying Ray in 1959. Mary stayed home to raise four children, to whom she was devoted. Her marriage to Ray lasted 60 years, until her death. She and Ray shared a love of family, travel, politics, theater, music, poetry and wine. Each evening they shared the same toast: “Siempre”. Their marriage was a great source of joy and strength to them both.
Ray was born in Pittson, PA and moved to Falls Church, VA at age 12. He worked his way through Georgetown University School of Foreign Service by selling shoes and playing in a band. Ray joined the Air Force realizing his dream of becoming a fighter pilot, and later retired from the Air Force Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. After marrying and starting a family, Ray went to law school at night at Georgetown University. His love of practicing law led him to keep his solo practice going until he turned 80. He was fiercely proud of his family, particularly his grandchildren Casey and Brendan, as well as his Irish Catholic heritage.
Ray and Mary are survived by their children, and grandchildren: Kevin Keating, John Keating, Timothy Keating, Kelly Keating Manya, Douglas Manya, Casey Manya and Brendan Manya.
A joint funeral and burial is planned for April 28th, 2021 at Arlington National Cemetery. Covid restrictions require that the service be private.
