Richard Paul Porter

Memorial service for Retired MSGT Richard Paul Porter, 58 will be held Friday, June
25, 2021, at National Funeral Home, Falls Church, Virginia. Richard passed away
June 4, 2021 at Georgetown hospital surrounded by his daughters, Sara Porter and
Lena Porter, and their mother Mona Siddick.
Richard Porter was born on November 1, 1962 in South Dakota. He was the youngest
of William Paul Porter and Jeaninne Vaury Porter’s three sons, Christian Porter and
James Porter.
Richard is survived by his two daughters, his two brothers, his parents, his Aunt
Margaret, Aunt Luciana, his cousins Rita, Karen, Jimmy and Patricia as well as
several nieces and nephews. Richard was known as a charismatic person that
enjoyed track, field and soccer growing up. Richard was a proud dance dad, loved
volunteering for his daughter’s field trips and school activities. He enjoyed
gardening, cooking on the grill and of course spending precious time with family.
Richard was a beloved friend to everyone that knew him.
Richard proudly served 20 years in the United States Airforce where he enlisted in St.
Louis MO in 1982 and separated with honors in Washington DC in 2002. Places that
MSGT Richard Porter served with the military police included Greenland and Saudi
Arabia.
Richard’s impressive Military awards and decorations include the Air Force
Commendation Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Training
Ribbon, Armed Forces Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon,
National Defense Service Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force
Outstanding Unit Award with Valor, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and Defense
Meritorious Service Medal.
He held a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems and also attended the
following Military Academy and programs; NCO Academy, NCO Leadership School,
and NCO Preparatory.
After Richard’s outstanding military service he continued to work with private
contractors in the area of physical plant security, including providing oversight as a
manager of facilities in the U.S. and other countries.
