Robert E. Anderson

Robert Eugene Anderson (Bob) was born July 21, 1931 in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. He departed from this life on May 08, 2012 at Medical University of South Carolina Trauma Center, Charleston SC at the age of 80. Bob served in the Army from 1952 to 1975 earning the rank of Sergeant First Class. While serving in the Army, he completed two Combat tours of duty (Korea, Vietnam) and many additional worldwide assignments including Asmara Ethiopia, Berlin and Frankfurt Germany. During his enlistment in the Army he was awarded several medals and awards including the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Upon the completion of his Army enlistment he settled in Falls Church, Virginia. He and his wife Yvonne had two children - William B. Anderson and Nelinda A. D’Avignon. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne, his sister Bertha “Dolly” Miller and good friend Lois Bono. He is survived by two sisters – Fran Poluch and Joan Trego, six grandchildren – Liutas Anderson, Laura Anderson, Kyle D’Avignon, Mindaugas Anderson, Monika Anderson and Gintaras Anderson. The family will receive friends on Monday June 4, 2012 from 12 – 2 p.m. in the National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church VA. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Arlington National Cemetery. The family request that in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be sent to the Disabled American Veterans.
