Robert Lee Crowley a long time resident of Mclean Virginia passed away peacefully on February 9, 2014, he was 74. Born in San Francisco, CA on March 26, 1939 to Jeremiah and Nora Crowley, he came to the Washington DC area in the 1960s and married his beloved wife Sandra Berwick Crowley. For the next 42 years, they raised their two children Brendan and Jacqueline and enjoyed spending time with their two grandchildren Georgia and Quinn. While living a great distance from San Francisco, he remained close to his sisters Patricia Ann and Mary Florence, and to his alma mater, the University of San Francisco. He greatly valued his many friendships from USF, the McLean community, work, and his faith community. Robert served his country with distinction for over thirty years retiring from the U.S. Army at the rank of Colonel and from the CIA as a Senior Intelligence Service officer. He derived great pleasure from his professional relationships developed while serving in three Directorates at CIA. He earned several awards including the Central Intelligence Medal upon his retirement. The Crowley family will receive friends for a Life Celebration on Friday, February 14th at Murphy’s Funeral Home in Falls Church VA from 6 to 8pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15th at St. James Catholic Church also in Falls Church VA at 10am. Interment will take place on Monday, February 17th at Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Virginia Hospital Center Intensive Care Unit. Arrangements under the direction of Murphy Falls Church Funeral Home, Falls Church, Virginia.
