Robert Washburn was born on August 1, 1938 in Washington, DC and lived in Arlington, VA his entire life. He graduated Washington Lee High School and later attended NOVA, receiving an Associate’s degree in Applied Science with a major in accounting. He worked for Arlington’s Planning Research Corporation where he managed the microfiche conversion of Navy Records. He later studied data processing and worked in accounting at the Seven Corners Building. He attended the Electronic Computer Programming Institute from 1979-1980 and worked at Arlington Hospice in the records division until the mid-1990s. Robert was an avid gardener and could always be found working his house garden on 15th street in Arlington until Parkinson’s disease forced him into the nearby Brookdale Assisted Living facility. There he employed his gardening talents with flower arranging and hobby painting until he passed away in October this year. He is survived by his aunt Carmen and cousins Richard, Kent, Lars, Katrina and Charles Washburn.
