

Sean “Spike” Timothy Parker died suddenly while vacationing in Italy on August 1, 2023. He was born in Kent County Hospital, Warwick, Rhode Island on June 3, 1967, the son of Frederick Eugene Parker III and Mary Gladyes (Connell) Parker. He grew up in a military family and moved with his family to Cranston, Rhode Island; Fort Meade, Maryland; Barrington, Rhode Island; Ponca City, Oklahoma; North Springfield, Virginia; Stuttgart, Germany, and Centreville, Virginia. He was a graduate of Bishop Ireton High School and Northeastern University. He was married in Budd Lake, New Jersey to Anna Colleen Davies on June 4, 1994, then settled in Falls Church, VA to raise his family. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, his three children - Peter Declan Parker, Katherine Siobhan Parker, and Harrison Davies Parker - his father Frederick Parker of Centreville, VA, and his sister Karen Parker of Little River, SC.
During college, he worked for the Library of Congress, cataloging all previous appropriations to the Department of Education. This was the first time that this type of project had been undertaken. After college, he entered the field of media production and eventually formed a partnership called ParkerGrove. In 2003, his next endeavor was as the Director of New Media for the Washington Capitals where he worked for nine years. Sean was praised for his work on the Washington Capitals website as being the No. 1 ranking among pro sports team sites. He left the Capitals to work for the Consumer Technology Association as their Director of Digital Media, where he headed up activities for the annual trade shows in Las Vegas and Shanghai. He next worked for the Institute of Humane Studies as Senior Director of Digital Communications Marketing before moving on to become Vice President of Marketing at Core Education.
Sean was an ambitious and innovative creator who enjoyed photography, film, music, writing, and drawing. He enjoyed exchanging new music with his family and friends, and watching TV shows with his wife. He also enjoyed learning about new subjects to share with the people around him. Sean was supportive of his family’s endeavors and played an active role in his sons’ Boy Scouting and coached youth rugby teams, as well as encouraged his daughter’s art career. Sean had a playful personality and often went by the nickname “Spike.” Sean’s openness to new concepts and new people made him a welcoming figure in everybody’s lives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on August 15, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Sorrows Catholic Church at 10500 Zion Drive, Fairfax, Virginia 22032. Mass will be streamed at stmaryofsorrows.org by clicking on “view mass” at the top of the page. He will be buried in Saint Mary of Sorrows Historic Cemetery in Fairfax Station, VA. The reception will follow the service at Saint Mary of Sorrows’ St. Joseph’s Hall in the parish center neighboring the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association and the Irish Wolfhound Foundation.
