On June 4, 2013, in Bethesda, MD. Wife of the late Ernest Burk; sister of the late Jeanne (Anthony "Bo") Sanza; beloved aunt of Adrienne S. and Marc A. Hedman. Sylvia is survived by a daughter, Susan, and many loving extended family members.
Sylvia was born in New York City and moved to Washington, DC in the 1940's. She worked at the Department of the Navy and served with the Consumptive Relief Society and the USO. After marrying her husband, Ernest, she worked alongside him in his jewelry business and volunteered with several non-profit organizations including the Hebrew Home, The Bombe Chest, and the Board of Jewish Social Services. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013, 11 a.m. at King David Memorial Garden, 7482 Lee Hwy Falls Church, VA 22042. The family will sit Shiva on Friday following the funeral at the home of Adrienne Hedman, Potomac, MD.
