OBITUARY
Terry C. Hillerich
23 December , 1949 – 24 January , 2015
Terry Coleman Hillerich passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015. Terry was born in Washington, DC on December 23, 1949. He attended Washington Lee High School and graduated from Bridgewater College with a Bachelor of Arts in physical education. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Judy; his loving children, Tre (35), Diana (34), Brian (32), and Chris (30); and his grandchildren, Taylor (13), Emma (12), Adriana (7), Kennedy (6), Leo (5), Lee (4), Reagan (2), and Lincoln (1 month).
Terry was a proud supporter and treasurer for Friends of Arlington Parks, a volunteer group of private citizens who share an interest in preserving and extending the Arlington, VA public park system. He was also a very proud member of the motorcycle community, devoting the past decade to teaching and maintaining the Motorcycle Rider Training Program at NVCC. His dedication is captured in a message from Esther S. Parantoni, Director of the Design & Implementation Workforce Development Division at Northern Virginia Community College:
"Terry has been with the college for years and we not only came to rely on his expertise and years of knowledge, we also came to love him as part of the NOVA family. We will miss him very much. And we want you to know how much he has set the standard for safety and expertise in our motorcycle program. He worked tirelessly, not only to provide the best program, but because he believed in the program and making a difference in people's lives. His loyally to serving others is exceptional. He would always step in to pick up a class when an instructor cancelled, and he was always there to ensure new instructors were on-boarded into the teaching realm. His loyalty put him through long hours and in all sorts of weather and he never complained. And his loyalty has undoubtedly saved the lives of hundreds of students who learned from him."
A memorial fundraiser has been established to support Terry's family. The funds will help cover funeral expenses and basic needs to help them get through this difficult time. The fundraiser can be found at the following address: www.youcaring.com/terryhillerich

One of the nicest and most compassionate human beings I've ever had the pleasure of knowing...it saddens me to hear of his passing. Terry was fun to be around and I'm thankful for the many rides we shared together. He was a great man, kind-hearted and genuine. May God bring peace and comfort to his wife and family. RIP my friend...until we ride together again.

On behalf of the Friends of Arlington Parks and personally, I would like to express our deep sorrow in learning of Terry's passing. We would like to thank you for sharing him with us. He served as Treasurer of our organization until his death but was far more valuable for his knowledge of Arlington and Virginia parks and their history. We valued Terry's wisdom and advice on all matters. Terry continued as Treasurer even though he no longer had the time nor energy to attend meetings but he never failed to comment by email on critical park issues. The park community and Arlington will feel his absence.

There are no words to express the sadness in my heart. My last memory of Terry and Judy was at an annual Hog Ball banquet. Terry's smile and laughter lit up our table. I met Terry many years ago through Manassas HOG and the Motorcycle Safety Program. I'll miss his safety tips. My thoughts and prayers are with Terry's family today and always.

Eight years ago Terry's son Tre married our daughter Elisa. We not only gained a wonderful son-in-law but also were blessed to become part of his family. Terry was not only a great husband and father but was a wonderful grandfather. The four grandchildren we shared brought us together on many wonderful occasions. He just loved those kids! He is an inspiration to all grandparents! We are here for you and the family, Judy. God Bless you Terry, rest in peace.

My heart is saddened by your loss. While I never had the pleasure of meeting Terry, if his daughter, Diana, is any reflection of the kind of person he was, then he must have been an amazing human being. May you receive the comfort of family and friends during this difficult time.

I want to send my sincerest condolences to Terry's family. He was a free spirit who happily shared his enthusiasm with everyone he met. I will miss our conversations on the range about what the best motorcycle was; even though we both agreed it is was the one we were riding that day.
Godspeed Terry!

I struggle to find the words to express my sorrow. Your passing has left a hole in my heart. You were my brother, both on the road and in life. I remember most our trips to Daytona, Mount Mitchell, and the tense motoring up and down Grandfather Mountain, and many times at Mine Run. Until we can once ride together that road in the sky, you will be deeply missed. Love you brother.

My deepest condolences to the Hillerich family. I remember helping Terry build the motorcycle range in Loudoun and teaching my very first Basic Rider Course there in 2008. Southern Cruisers Riding Club wishes our deepest condolences to Terry's family. We met Terry about 2 years ago when he joined and began riding with the SCRC Chapter #475, Manassas, Virginia. We quickly adopted Terry as he was a kind and caring individual. Always thinking of others on the group rides. We can only wish we had enjoyed his camaraderie much longer though we will cherish the short time we got to know him. GOD bless you Terry! Your friends at SCRC Chapter #475

My condolences to the family. I went through the Rider Coach prep class with Terry and taught many classes with him over the last 12 years. I particularly enjoyed teasing and joking with him and getting a friendly insult back from him. We would laugh and then I would wait for another opportunity to catch him off guard and do it again. His sense of humor never wavered, and I will miss him a lot. He was a great Rider Coach and a very good friend. I am so sorry for your loss.

It has been a bit strange since hearing the news that you passed away ...... conversations and interactions over the years about motorcycle training and life itself keep floating in and out. Little did I know that my final memory would be our last conversation at the IMS in DC a couple of weeks ago, and you waving over your shoulder as you walked away.

You were the closest person to being a blood brother than anyone. We often joked that we were separated at birth. A brother, a friend, a fellow rider, a great instructor, and you held a special place n my heart. You will be forever missed. Until we meet again for our ride in the sky. KSU, wind in the face, and the love of riding. Love you brother.
