We are so very sorry for your immense loss.  Tyler and Bryan were such good friends, especially during the Churchill Road School years.  We have so many fond memories of Tyler during that time.  Tyler and Bryan along side Snuggles and Stoney playing and rough-housing in both our yards.  Tyler was always so cheerful and outgoing when he visited and the house was filled with laughter.  He will be so missed by so many.  Our hearts are with you.  Sending you love and healing.

A chance encounter at Penn State between Nika and Tyler senior year. I remember this night well, even though we had only just run into him, he had us immediately laughing our butts off with his special brand of humor. Always was a highlight seeing Tyler, and I still clearly remember how fun that moment all the way back in 2014 was.


Tyler was one of the first friends I made at Penn state. We frequently played basketball together on campus. Tyler was a hell of a competitor and I don’t know too many people who hated losing less. He was as fierce on the court as he was kind off of it. He was the captain of our “cloudhoppers” team; one year he couldn’t play with us, and he would message us asking about not only the outcome but specific plays that happened. We felt ashamed telling Malpede that we couldn’t pull it off without him (“you should have seen the refs man!”). Although we didn’t live close after school, he was always a friend I felt I could call after the passing of years and he’d always be ready with a witty and loving response. You’ll be greatly missed friend.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Tyler was a great friend to my brother and I'm so grateful that I was able to catch up with him this past May. That fact that they remained friends since elementary school is a testament to Tyler's bright, kind, and loyal spirit.  He brought so much joy to Kit's celebration and always showed a genuine interest in my life whenever we happened to cross paths. I will also always appreciate how kind he was to my Aunt Kathy,  who was very fond of Tyler-- for good reason.

I had the pleasure of sitting beside Tyler for almost 2 yrs, but even more than that I had the pleasure of calling him friend. Tyler was your big brother, mentor, and old pal all at once. He was 100% himself in every situation in a way no one else seems to be able to be, and he did it without ever making anyone else feel bad (except when he took your poker money). Taking to his other friends and family just confirmed to me that Tyler had no baggage, he was the same man for all of us. I’ll always value the lessons he taught me, be it how to impress in Capital Markets or how to impress on a barroom date. All my love and strength to his family in this time - Rest in Peace brother, you’ll always have a seat at our table.

Words fail us on learning of the sad passing of Tyler. We knew Tyler as Chiji's friend from Churchill Road. He was warm, respectful and humble. We had followed his accomplishment and were very proud of him. As we say our goodbyes, we uphold  Julie, Scott & family in our thoughts and prayers. May the soul of Tyler find eternal rest. Dear Malpede Family and Loved Ones,

As a member of the technology team at Fannie Mae, I worked with Tyler on an as-needed/occasional basis over the last three years. Our interactions were always very pleasant and positive. He was friendly, very bright, articulate, and easy to talk to. Upon hearing of Tyler’s passing, I was overcome with sadness and disbelief.  

May the outpouring of love and support from friends, colleagues and loved ones, as well as all the wonderful, warm, cherished memories of Tyler comfort you in the days, months, and years, to come.

I had the pleasure of sitting beside Tyler for a few years, but more so of calling him friend. Tyler was unlike anyone else because he had this ability to be authentically himself at all times, wherever he went. Whether it was impressing everyone in ALCO presentations, sweeping the floor in poker, or sore losing in Ping Pong, Tyler brought the same heart and liveliness every time we hung out. And he always paid it forward; the first person to congratulate me on every little win - be it a new job, a new relationship, or even a new TV series finished, Tyler was always ready with a “great job Big Man”. I’m going to miss being able to text him on whim with any random thought but I know that every time I spill a tea on my desk that he’s still here with me. I hope that I can inspire that kind of confidence and enthusiasm some day as he did to everyone around him. Rest well Big T

Fenwick/Bethany Beach Labor Day Weekend 2009 or 2010? Myself, Sara and Liz drew this in the sand to cheer Tyler on in a very competitive pick up football game with his brother Nick & some other friends. Tyler has been and will be in our hearts forever

Tyler’s kindness, intelligence, big heart, and humor blessed all who had the joy of knowing him. During the service today, I was reminded of the time Tyler endorsed me on LinkedIn for speaking Italian. I do not speak Italian, but have been approached with translation requests on more than one occasion because of the endorsement… he really got a kick out of that. I learned many lessons from Tyler, both related to work and not, but those that will stick with me are the lessons in treating others with love, approaching every challenge head on and with positivity, and not taking little things too seriously. He will be dearly missed. My heart and prayers are with the Malpede and Wilson families.

Tyler has forever made an impact on not only my life, but my soul. In the time that I had the privilege to experience life with Tyler, I have seen how genuine, kind, caring, passionate, and inquisitive he was about all things life. He had a beautiful outlook on life and it showed in his interactions with others, especially his loved ones. Each memory that I will forever carry close to me is filled with fun, excitement, and silliness. I am truly honored that I crossed paths with Tyler and had the opportunity to get to know him.

I have no words to say how sorry I am we lost our friend Tyler and how much I will miss him. But it’s crystal clear that there is a lot to learn from Tyler’s kindness, authenticity, and curiosity, and I will always keep his example in mind.

When this picture was taken, we had just eaten sushi and Tyler got himself a set of practice chopsticks. Cut to a week ago at Korean Barbecue and he’s nonchalantly using chopsticks no problem! He started learning Spanish recently, and already learned more than I had across several attempts (I was jealous). These are just two of many examples of Tyler’s enthusiastic approach to life, and his qualities that I aspire to. I feel lucky to have known someone who makes the people around him better.

Tyler was an amazing guy.  He was kind and confident and eager to learn. He was one of those people you wanted to be with in a meeting because he just made it more fun. He will be truly, truly missed.

Tyler was a kind, gentle and thoughtful person from the time Thomas met him in grammar school and all through the years. He had the best manners and a beautiful inviting smile. We were proud of his accomplishments and so happy when he moved back to Arlington, VA

Words can't express how sorry I am to have lost my great friend Tyler. While I have so many special memories with him, I am so grateful that he was able to attend my wedding in May of 2022 and my bachelor party the month beforehand. I will never forget his goofiness, competitive spirit, loyalty, and genuine care for those he surrounded himself with. 

Tyler was an absolute wonderful person to be around. We were colleagues and he had a vibrance that would light up a room. Our team dynamic immediately brightened when he joined. He was sharp, quick witted and created lasting memories with his humor and presence.  He was a warm soul and I’ll miss him deeply. Rest Easy. Praying and wishing the best for the Malpede family. 

I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to work with and get to know Tyler. He was a uniquely warm person who made work lighter with his humor and positive energy while simultaneously fostering a focus on learning and excellence. He was always quick to ask how you were doing, break the ice, tell a story, or offer a helping hand. He brightened any room he was in and will be so missed. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Tyler for two and half years at Deloitte. I have to admit that I didn’t want to like him at first; I was supposed to be the funny guy around the office. But Tyler was rare breed, a unique combination of charm and authenticity. He won me over by just being himself and I felt honored to call him a friend.

I do have a memory that I wanted to share. I brought my baby daughter Elanor into the office while I was on parental leave and I just handed her off to Tyler. I didn't even ask. He offered her back, but I just let him hold her. For like a LONG TIME. Out of all the Deloitters, I think Elanor liked Tyler best. Later that year, I drew his name for Secret Santa and gave him a framed picture of him holding her (this is that picture).

Tyler is an amazing person and I am better off having known him. My heart goes out to the Malpede family and all of his friends and colleagues.

Tyler had such a fun, warm, and welcoming energy that made being 'new' to the team infinitely better. He was incredibly talented at tackling projects at Deloitte, and even better at explaining seemingly complex things in layman's terms.  I remember seeing him just a few weeks ago at Carpool, with onlookers (myself included) in stitches over his ridiculous shots at the billiards tables.

Always ready with a smile and some banter to lighten the room - gosh, just really tough to hear this news. Sending thoughts and prayers to his family and friends; he was a beacon of light and will be deeply missed.

I had the beautiful opportunity to meet Tyler for a weekend, and I’m so grateful that I did. It was clear that when he entered a space, he truly radiated. He had such a warm, outgoing, and witty personality. His energy was absolutely memorable and contagious - it was clear why people loved being around him. This physical world lost something so special, but I’m so happy to have met him, even just once, and I’m so happy he was able to make such an impact on others lives. My heart and thoughts are with his family and friends. 

Tyler made every conversation he was apart of more joyful. He always knew how to get people laughing and smiling. He was an instrumental part in my start at fannie mae. Showing the importance of having a familial atmosphere at work, while constantly learning and working with excellence. He not only cared about my professional development, but also my personal well-being. He was an amazing coworker, manager and friend. Tyler will be so incredibly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I can’t think of Tyler and not have a smile on my face.  One of the most genuine people I’ve ever met.  A curious mind, very intelligent and, above all, a great sense of humour.  I’m grateful to have known him, worked with him, and called him a friend - and especially to be his rival in ping-pong, poker, and hoops arcade.

The positive impact he made on everyone he met will live on, people who knew him will never forget him.  I will never forget him.

Prayers and condolences to the Malpede family, who he often spoke of its members and loved a lot - I regret not being able to attend his funeral and pay respect in person because I am overseas in Europe.

A coworker, a teacher, a friend. It’s hard to describe the impact that Tyler had on my development, as he positively contributed to so many different aspects of my life. From fostering an inclusive and curious mindset at work to ensuring a good time at team events and poker games, Tyler always brought out the best in those around him no matter the situation. He will be sorely missed. Sending thoughts and prayers to his family and friends during this time.

Tyler was one of the most authentic people I have ever met. It was a privilege to know him and work alongside him. He brought so much laughter and energy to each day, and his tenacity and positive attitude inspired everyone around him. Such an amazing person who will be terribly missed. My sincerest condolences to the family during this difficult time. 

Tyler was one of my favorite people. I first met him about a year ago when I joined his team at Fannie Mae and since then he had become one of my biggest mentors at work and best friends outside of it. He had a unique ability to bounce from detailing the growing pains/rewards of cat fatherhood to asking about my life and then teaching me about interest rate risk over the course of one short conversation. Tyler always kept me on my toes and made me laugh, which is what I'll remember him for most.

My deepest condolences to all of Tyler's family and friends. We were lucky to have known such a genuine and loving soul.

Tyler was not only a close colleague, but a good friend. The energy and knowledge he brought to the team was truly something special. Everyday he never failed to put a smile on our faces and make work an enjoyable place to be, which is hard to come by. Tyler was a mentor to me both in regards to my career and personal life. I was able to work closely with Tyler for a year. He had a great positive energy that made working together fun, and he always had an encouraging word. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have gotten to know each other and I will miss him.

There are not any words to describe the impact that Tyler made on those that he worked with. He trained me when I had first joined the team and was a pleasure to work with. He will be greatly missed by those who got the pleasure of knowing him. 

Tyler was the first person I worked with outside of my immediate team. He always started each meeting with a joke, update on his latest vacation, or simply asking how I'm doing. He brought not  only his intelligence but also joy to all of our interactions. He truly was a special person and will be dearly missed. 

Tyler/“Pede” had such a joyful spirit and always brought such a fun energy to any room. He was truly one of the smartest, kindest, and most thoughtful people I’ve ever met. 

My favorite memories of him include his spirited dance routines and enthusiastically talking about our mutual love for cats, with the standout memory being the time we were all at a Penn State tailgate and I looked over to see him on the ground stretching and “warming up” for the game - “put me in coach!” (see attached photo).

Please know that Tyler will be remembered, always, with love, and with joy for having known him. He made the world a better place.
