Obituary of Zhanna Vladimirskaya-Kovalev
VLADIMIRSKAYA Zhanna Vladimirskaya-Kovalev passed away on October 28 at her home in Falls Church, VA. She was born in Kharkov, Ukraine in 1939, graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema, and received overwhelming audience response and rave reviews for her lead performances in Medea (Jean Anouilh) and The Little Prince (Antoin De Saint-Exuperi). She immigrated to the USA from the former Soviet Union in 1981, and for over 20 years worked as a script writer and announcer at the Russian Service of the Voice of America. Her various programs were frequently awarded for excellence. Zhanna created and performed several one-woman shows, bringing them to audiences all over the country, and recorded several musical and poetry reading albums. She is survived by her husband Alexey Kovalev and their daughter Nastasya, as well as by her brother Alexander. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 4 at 12:00 pm at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church. Interment will follow on the grounds of National Memorial Park.
