

Hilton, Hubert E., “Doc”, 83, of Farmingdale, formerly of Glen Cove, passed away October 27, 2022. Reunited in Heaven with his cherished son, Erik. Devoted life partner of 51 years to Karen Dunphy. Loving father of Daniel, Hubert, Deborah, Carlos, Annette, Barrett, Janine, and Schanda. Adored grandfather and great-great grandfather of many grandchildren. Dear brother of James, Louella, Carrie, Edward, and Helen and predeceased by siblings Sarah, Willie Jo and Jerome. Beloved uncle of many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Treasured friend to countless. Hubert was a passionate professional boxer in the 1960’s. Doc was top ten in the world in the heavy weight division. During his boxing career he traveled to many destinations, but England was his favorite. He was a dedicated coach for boxing, Farmingdale Hawks Football and Farmingdale Baseball. Hubert was a proud physical education teacher at Manhattan Country School for 6 years and was a sanitation engineer in Glen Cove for many years. Since he was a child, Hubert was drawn to horses, wanting to become a jockey but his jockey dream ended when he grew to be about 6’2. Hubert was a huge Met’s fan, Giant’s fan and Braves fan. He loved to talk to people and tell stories. Doc’s outgoing, positive attitude was an inspiration to anyone who met him, making him a “father figure” to many. His love of life, distinctive voice and contagious smile left an everlasting impression. Hubert always knew how to build people up, believing in them and giving them the confidence needed for them to achieve their dreams. The family will receive visitors Sunday, October 30th, 2-4 and 7-9pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale. Funeral Service, Sunday, October 30th, 8:30pm at the funeral home. Cremation will be Private. Inurnment Friday, November 4th, 10 am, at St. Charles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Hubert’s memory to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society; LLS.org.
