With profound love and deep sorrow, the family of Rose M. La Russo announces her passing on November 25, 2025. Born on February 24, 1936, to her devoted parents Venerando and Josephine Rapisarda, Rose lived a life defined by faith, family, and boundless generosity.
Rose was the beloved wife of the late Sebastian “Jack” La Russo, with whom she shared 60 beautiful years of marriage. Their bond was one of unwavering love, partnership, and devotion. Knowing she is now reunited with Jack brings comfort to all who cherished her. She was the loving mother of Daniel La Russo (Lisa), Vincent La Russo (Lisa), Anne-Marie Schumacher (William), and Joan Hoy (Tommy). Her heart was fullest when surrounded by family, especially her cherished grandchildren: John, Michael, Gina, Angela, Joanna, Adriana, Anthony, Giovanni, Thomas, and Emma Rose. Each of them brought joy to her days and carried a special place in her heart. Rose was the dear sister of the late John, Frank, and Mary, and she kept their memories close throughout her life.
Family was truly at the center of who Rose was. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply, and she treasured every gathering—planned or spontaneous. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where the coffee was always brewing, and the door always open. Anyone who visited felt her kindness, her gentleness, and her genuine love for togetherness.
A woman of steadfast faith, Rose was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy. In her earlier years, she attended Mass regularly, and when she became homebound, she continued to participate faithfully by watching Mass each day on the religious channel. Her devotion was quiet yet profound, and it guided her throughout her life. Those who knew Rose will remember her tender spirit, her nurturing nature, and her unwavering gratitude for the blessings in her life. She was a gentle soul, beloved by children, family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, from 3–5 PM and 7–9 PM at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale, NY 11735. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 9:15 am at Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church, Hicksville, New York. Entombment will follow at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, New York.
Rose leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family. She will be missed beyond words and remembered forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
