Merrill, Steven J., 62, of Farmingdale passed away January 16, 2025. Loving husband of 33 years to Donna. Treasured father of James (Moriah) and Stephanie (Randall). Devoted “Dog-Dad” of Murphy, Bailey, and Finn. Beloved brother of Debra Vigorito (Vinny), Anne Palmer (John), James P., Patricia Maybury (James), and Daniel (Cathy). Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. Steven was known for his outspoken nature and quick wit. He was never one to hold back an opinion or sugarcoat the truth. Whether he was offering advice, cracking a joke, or sharing a life lesson, his words were always candid, but they came from a place of love and genuine care. He had a gift for making others laugh and an uncanny ability to lighten even the heaviest of moments with his humor. Steven was a free spirit through and through and lived life on his own terms. He was strong-willed and marched to the beat of his own drum, never afraid to stand out or go against the grain. His positive, upbeat attitude was contagious, and no matter the challenges life threw his way, he faced them head-on with a smile and a "go with the flow" mentality. Steven was also a passionate sports fan, with a special place in his heart for his New York teams — the Jets, Mets, and Islanders. It was often said that no one made breakfast quite like him — his special “McMerrill’s” were a family staple, an English muffin, toasted with butter, an over easy egg, sausage, one slice of American, and his special ingredient, grape jelly. But nothing mattered more to Steven than his family. His family was the reason for everything he did, and the bond they shared could never be broken. Steven’s sense of humor, strong character, and love for his family will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family will receive visitors for a memorial visitation Saturday, January 25th, 1-3 and 6-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale.
