Robert “Bob” Henry Woollard, age 100.14, of Fayetteville peacefully passed on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in the comfort of his home. Born on December 27, 1918, in Dawson, WV, he was the son of the late Foncy Woollard and E. Maye McClung Woollard.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Frances Ann Caldwell Woollard; by his second wife of 27 years, Juanita S. Marra Woollard; and by his brother, Foncy Woollard.
Those left to cherish Bob’s memory include his sister, Otaka W. Patteson; son, Bob Woollard II; daughter Suzann W. Shumaker and Gaylord; only grandchild and special buddy Dustin Q. Shumaker and Kendall; and two great-grandchildren Braelyn Quinn and Nolan Henley Shumaker. The family would also like to reference an extraordinarily special group of caregivers (Ginny, Shelly, Abby, Amanda, Lana, Matt, Lee and Amy) who enhanced the last two months of Bob’s life.
Robert “Bob” Woollard graduated from Smoot High School in 1938 and attended WV Tech where he received an A.S. in Electrical Engineering. His proudest accomplishment was serving in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1941 to 1945 wherein he earned a Battlefield Commission during his tour of the European Theater in France. He ended his military career at the rank of Major in 1978. He worked at Union Carbide/ Elkem Metals in Alloy, WV for 42 years in his final role as Supervisor of the Steam Plant. Bob also was an active member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He served the Town of Fayetteville on the Fayetteville Town Council and the Water Board. Bob was a devoted father, grandfather, and most recently great-grandfather. Other passions included maintenance of his lawn and the growth of his garden along with being a top-notched handyman. The family and community of his life have lost a very fair, disciplined, and stoic leader who had a good heart.

The family will receive friends from 12:30– 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the Fayetteville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary following visitation with Pastor Ron George, Jr. and Reverend David Sneed.
