Beverly Clark

Beverly Clark, 91, a former longtime resident of Sarasota, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at The Windsor of Palm Coast. She was born in Sandusky, Michigan on August 13, 1927. The only daughter of the late John Lowe, Sr. & Fledda Wiley Lowe & sister of John W. Lowe of whom all preceded her in death. A graduate of Denison University in Granville, Ohio, Mrs. Clark, a lifelong educator, who initiated an adult literacy program during her early retirement in Winter Haven as well as being active, along with her former husband, Pat Clark, in the Literacy Council of Sarasota. A tirelessly dedicated single mother, she returned to school in the 1960’s to earn her Master’s & Specialist’s in Early Childhood Education. She raised her three children, Peter, John, & Barbara by example with a strong work ethic & was unfailingly gracious, thoughtful & kind to all who knew her. She pursued many activites, including gardening & enjoying the arts. She was especially fond of travel & was fortunate to see much of the world in her lifetime. A fan of African safaris, her most recent trip, at 85 years young +, accompanied by her two beloved grandsons & daughter-in-law, was to Kenya where they enjoyed all the wildlife & were hosted by the Maasai Tribe community. She often said it was her last but favorite journey of all. Surviving are her three children, John Richard Varty, William Peter Varty & Barbara Varty & two grandchildren, Aaron Jordan Varty & Charles Richard Varty. Beverly Clark will be dearly missed by all who knew & loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to the Literacy Council of Sarasota.
