My dear friend, Carol, was a very special lady.  We were friends for almost twenty years and, in all that time, we never had a disagreement or harsh words.  We’d call each other almost every day and never run out of things to talk about.  

Carol  had three great loves in her life, “her boys” Chris and Tim,  and Joe Norton.   Every Sunday without fail she be on the phone for what seemed like hours (the phone was always busy) with one or both of them.  It made her so happy to talk to them and about them.

Joe’s passing left a huge void in Carol’s life. Carol and Joe  had a great life together.  They loved Palm Coast and being retired.  I can still see Joe lounging by the pool enjoying his cigar.   One day I asked him why he didn’t come inside.  He said  “because Carol won’t let me smoke in the house”.  I laugh every time I think of it.

I cannot think of Carol without remembering the beautiful cards she made.  Each one was uniquely tailored to a specific recipient or occasion .   She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or holiday.  There was always a special card from Carol waiting for you in the mailbox.  

I take great comfort knowing Carol and Joe are together again and will be forever.   They were such great fun.   I just hope he’s allowed to smoke in the house.
