Gladys Mae Olsen 98, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on March 2, 2019 at her home with her family at her side. She was born on July 21, 1920 in New London, Connecticut to the late Ellis B. and Marie E. Hartman (Deck). Gladys earned her nursing degree from the Hartford School of Nursing and went on to work for several doctors offices during her working years. Gladys was very talented, she wrote a children’s book in 1965 titled “Moose On The Loose” and went on to publish it in 2007. She also penned hundreds of poems in her lifetime. Gladys was also a gifted painter. Her memberships included the Elks Club of Lakeland and the United Methodist Church of Lakeland. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Carl L. Olsen in 2000; son, Carl L. Olsen III in 1997; grandson, Christopher Olsen in 1994. Survivors include her son, Glenn and his wife Sharon; grandchildren, Glen Olsen and Kristen Schoonmaker, Carl L. Olsen IV; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Alayna. Donations in her memory may be made to Vitas Hospice Care. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, 6:00-8:00PM at the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
