James John DeCastro Sr. 83, of Palm Coast, FL passed away on March 23, 2020 at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. He was born on March, 28, 1936 in Madeira Island, Portugal to the late Joseph John DeCastro and Carmen DeCastro (Nunez). He immigrated to the United States in search of the American Dream. James worked for Schraft's Restaurants & Hotels as a purchasing agent until his retirement in 2000. Upon his retirement he moved from Staten Island, NY to Palm Coast, FL where he became an active member of the Moose Lodge. James enjoyed playing cards, watching his grandchildren play sports, but he will always be remembered for his love and knowledge of World History. James lived his life selflessly and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was always kind, always generous and always put his family first. James was immensely loved and will be deeply missed. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Marie C. DeCastro (Acocella). His two sons, James John DeCastro Jr. (Wendy), Stephen R. DeCastro (Kim) and daughter Susan L. Norberg (Edward), his seven grandchildren, Andrew DeCastro (Bobby Jackson), Corey DeCastro (Taylor), Alex DeCastro, Stephanie DeCastro, Christopher DeCastro, Courtney Norberg, and Caitlyn Norberg as well as one great grandson Nathaniel Burgos.
