On Monday, February 15, 2021, Kent David Miles, loving husband and father, passed away suddenly at his home. Kent, beloved son of Darrell and Tanya Miles, was born on March 16, 1963 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He grew up all across the country as his father served as an Officer in the United States Navy. Kent graduated Coral Springs High School and went on to attend Broward Community College as a student and later became an Adjunct Professor specializing in Computer Aided Design and Drafting. Being a big time Gator fan, Kent was thrilled to become part of the University of Florida family when asked to develop and AutoCadd training course. Over the years Kent owned several businesses in South Florida, including a successful mortgage company and a thriving commercial building. Kent was an excellent negotiator and salesperson, putting 1000% into all of his endeavors. After retiring and moving to Ormond Beach to be able to attend all Harrison’s college football games, Kent became a bartender, working with his Rose Villa family. When an opportunity arose for him to return to sales, he became a sales associate for Plantation Oaks of Ormond Beach. As with many of the people Kent meets, the community became his family. Kent was known for his quick wit, corny Dad jokes, infectious laugh and his kind and compassionate spirit.
On July 24, 1994, Kent was married to his wife Rosemary and they celebrated their 25th anniversary last year. Together they have one son, Harrison Conner Miles, who Kent was most proud of.
Kent had a deep passion for golf, loved classic rock and was known for reciting the lyrics to any song from the 70’s and 80’s. Kent loved football but had a love/hate relationship with his favorite team the Minnesota Vikings. Even though football was his favorite, Kent loved all sports. He even coached many of Harrison’s little league baseball and football teams. Kent also loved traveling, boating, scuba diving and in his younger years was a competitive swimmer.
Kent is survived by his wife Rosemary, son Harrison, parents Darrell and Tanya, two devoted brothers; Scott and wife Kara, Lee and wife Jenny; along with his two nephews, one niece, her children and several cousins. Kent will be missed not only by his family but everyone who has ever come into his life.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. At Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life starting at 4:00 p.m.
