Ana,

I will never forget your wedding day.  It was warm and sunny.  You and Mariano were surrounded by your family and friends.   You both stood on that gorgeous  bridge that went across the pool to repeat vows.    I think Mariano and his brother may have made the bridge?  You were afraid it would collapse, but there is no way that would have happened with Mariano in charge.  He will always be your protector, your soul and your heart.  You cannot see him but I know you can feel him...just close your eyes.  Praying for you, your kids, and your family.  Miss and love you immensely.  I wish you peace, dear friend.

Every time we saw Mariano he always had a smile on his face.  You could see how much he loved his wife and girls. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. God has called home a truly wonderful man. Our prayers are with you and your family 

My South American husband, Nelson, and I were invited by Ana, my colleague, at Belle Terre to their home for dinner. Nelson was shy in this new culture, but I watched him relax and laugh and smile with Mariano and Ana. The Spanish whizzed back and forth and the three of them danced salsa after dinner as I pretended!

We only saw them as couples a few times, before we moved overseas. But I'll never forget Mariano looking up at our tile Wiles-Velez and mi casa es su casa and saying to Nelson, " There goes the neighborhood!!"

I was always envious of the ease of their shared cultural marriage. It just flowed with love. 

When I told Nelson about Mariano's passing he was so sad, as was I. " let's choose a time and have a moment of silence to honor him" he said over the phone from Ecuador. And we did. Honor is the height of respect between Hispanic men. 

Ana and girls, much love, and use his strength to sustain you as your lives move forward.

I  met Ana in Pasadena when all the girls were 
In elementry school.  Shortly after she met this wonderful man was so happy for her.  I met him 
A few times then they moved to the northern 
Part of florida.     I have followed them throughout these years in social media and there was always so much love.  Eventhough 
I never spend alot of time with him my heart knew he was a good husband, father and human being. May he rest in peace. May the family have peace and love always. 

The world has lost a kind and giving man. Heaven has gained a truly beautiful soul.  May you have eternal peace and joy, my friend.

I met Mariano when I was 14 and he was 15 in Hoboken, NJ. We became best friends, like brothers. Some of the best memories of my adolescence are because of Mariano. 
He would come to my house and go directly to the kitchen to see what my parents were cooking and often had dinner at my house. My father would pile his plate…he was a good eater.
When I was 16/17, he would let me drive his white Mustang…even gave me a key so I could drive it by myself.  
We worked together at the Terminal Sweet Shop in Hoboken, and would laugh all day! My English was very bad (still is, lol). I used to say “nest” (instead of “next”) when taking care of customers. He always got a kick out of that. 
I also remember when a group of us would drive in his car, he would fart and then lock all the windows so we would suffocate with the smell. 
And when a bunch of us would drive down to the Jersey Shore and throw fruits and candy from one car to another on the highway…crazy kids!
He always used to tell the story about when I was slow dancing with a girl at a party and my gum got stuck on her hair! 
Unfortunately, during our early 20’s Mariano and I went our different ways and lost communication for many years.  Thankfully, a close mutual friend reunited us a few years ago, and we kept in touch frequently since then.  I wish we would have spent more time together as adults.
Fortunately, I was able to give him one last hug this past February when my wife and I visited him in the hospital.  Rest in Peace my brother! You will be missed!

So many lives will never be the same without Mariano.  I will miss him.  

I will miss walking into work to find a thermos of Cuban espresso on my desk from him – somehow always on the days I needed it most.  

I will miss how he made my girls laugh, playing with Michichi, sneaking them candy, and letting them try out his latest pool upgrades.  

I will miss hearing him laughing with friends & family, and friends that are family. 

I will miss how he brought people together through his cooking, often with Ana or the girls; and always with love.

Most of all, I will miss how he made Ana smile every day.  

Mariano leaves us memories of laughter, kindness, and joy; but the most important thing he has left are four women that, because of him, are forever so strong.  He will live on through them, always in their hearts.


I have never met a more generous man.  Mariano not only loved helping strangers, he went out of his way to find them.  The world was a better place because of him.  He will be missed by his family and friends, but he’s not gone forever.  We will all be reunited one day and until then we cherish all the memories he has left us with to remember him by.  

 This man Mariano Fajardo  came into my life suddenly when he needed sheet rock done on his addition. Shortly after finishing I started working with him almost 12 years ago. He has taught me how to be a man and taught me  A lot of the things he knows but we know there’s no way you could teach me everything with all of knowledge he had never ceased to amaze me with what he knew. We have worked side-by-side and I cannot ever  thank him enough always had a smile never got angry just fix what I messed up and let me tell you I messed up a lot. Now I will take everything you Have taught me through work and life I will  use it to the fullest. Want to send my condolences to Anna and the girls. Know  I am always around the corner if something breaks I have been taught well I will fix it.Mariano was like a father to me always there when I need him without a question asked. Don’t even know how he  dealt  with me for so long  I was quite the pain in the ass for some reason you love me and  took me under your  wing .Just want to say I love you man I will forever be thankful for the knowledge you have passed down to me.

We pray that your heart and soul will find peace and comfort during this difficult time.  We are so sorry for your loss.

Mariano passed away on the same date as his mother, Caridad.
He was so close to her growing up. It just shows how special their bond must have been. 
Caridad was my Godmother.
Mariano was 15 when his mom passed away, and soon after my mom cared for him and his brothers.
So growing up, Mariano was a brother to me.
He taught me how to Salsa dance on my 15th birthday.
I'm happy my mom went to see him before he passed. I was told he was so happy to see her, that he almost jumped out of bed.
She's mourning. Alas, she is sharing his memories with us..

It all seems surreal, still.

A good man...  I never saw anyone prouder to see his daughter married.  We're so very sorry for your loss. 

Words can not adequately express how much love is in our hearts for Marianno and the entire Fajardo family. So, so many of our very favorite memories and moments over the past 15 years include you all.   We will never be the same without Marianno here with us, but we will forever be better people for having had him in our lives to show us how to love deeply, smile often and live life to the fullest. 

Our deepest sympathies to your family during this very difficult time.  Mariano was a very kind soul  and his work has been shared with many.  We will remember him always, by admiring his work in our home.  We were saddened to hear his time on earth has passed.  We send strength and healing in the days, months and years ahead.
