Born on July 27, 1932, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of Joseph VanSciver and Mary Reinauer VanSciver. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Marion William Savitski. She is survived by her children: Maureen Constantinou (Constantinos) of Palm Coast, FL; Michael Savitski of Vero Beach, FL; David Savitski (who provided for her care) of Flagler Beach, FL; Diane Cooper (David) of Daytona Beach, FL; and Kathleen Bowman (Danny) of Palm Coast, FL. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Vasiliki and Mario Constantinou, Daryl, Michael and Matthew Savitski; Christopher, Zachary and Nicholas Cooper; James Bowman; Brielynn and Johnny Savitski and 3 great-grandchildren: Mikayla Constantinou, Jason and Dylan Savitski. She is also survived by her sisters Phyllis Osisek and Kathy Kendrick as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary graduated from Eddystone High School in 1950 where she was the Majorette Captain and a member of the National Honor Society. She danced professionally from a very young age in Atlantic City and other regional venues. She performed on the same stage with stars like Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Bobby Vinton and Frank Sinatra. After marrying the love of her life, Marion, she became a dance teacher, using her talent and love of dance to inspire many young girls and boys to learn the fine art of dance.
Mary and Marion raised their children in a loving home in Media, PA. After retirement, they moved to Flagler Beach, FL and built their “dream house.” Four of their five children eventually followed them to Flagler County to raise their families where their home became the centerpiece for holidays and family gatherings.
Mary was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies and rarely missed a game on TV. After her husband, Marion, passed in 2015, Mary rekindled her love of pinochle (after much encouragement from her children) and played twice a week at the Palm Coast Community Center where she made many dear friends. Everyone who knew her loved her for her kindness and wit.
A mass will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Santa Maria Del Mar Catholic Church in Flagler Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Santa Maria Del Mar Catholic Church.
Mary was a gentle woman who loved her family unconditionally, who was always there to listen and offer advice or lend a helping hand when needed. She touched many lives during her lifetime and was an inspiration to many of her dance students as well as to her family and friends! She will be dearly missed.
