after a brief illness. She was born on November 8, 1946 in
Flushing, New York to the late Charles T. Whitney and Dorothy
Bronkhorst. Susan grew up in Syosset, NY. She worked in
advertising for several years in Hartford, CT. and Boston, MA.
She begin a career in real estate post-advertising and cofounded
her own boutique real estate firm Basil Hawthorne.
Susan was a member of Halifax Plantation Golf Club. She
enjoyed playing golf, tennis, sailing, gardening, traveling and
had a keen interest in fashion and design. She also volunteered
her time at a local food bank. Survivors include her son, Scott
Cymbala and his wife Meredith Chinn of Los Angeles; grandson,
Wyatt Cymbala of Los Angeles; sister, Janet Belles of Ormond
Beach; Niece, Kelly Cote of Haddam, CT. and many more loving
relatives and friends. Donations in her memory can be made to
Halifax Health Hospice Care. No services are planned for the
