He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wilma Hassell; one son, Albert Hassell Jr.; one sister, and one brother.

He is survived by one daughter, Pam Cunningham & husband Robert of Houston; one brother, Glenn MacConnell of Houston; two granddaughters, Lisa Harris & husband Brian, and Rachel Williams & husband Andy; and two great-granddaughters, Sophia Williams, and Evelyn Harris.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Flatonia. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 10:00 am at Flatonia Methodist Church in Flatonia. Entombment will follow at the Oak Hill Mausoleum.
