Edwin John Smith Jr.

SMITH Jr., Edwin John, age 93, of Flushing, passed away July 23, 2015 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held 12:00PM Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Rd. ,Flushing. Pastor Teresa Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00PM Monday and 11:00AM-12:00PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Ed’s memory.

Ed was born January 11, 1922 in Northern Ireland and immigrated at nine months old to the United States with his parents. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marines in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Ed then graduated from the University of Detroit with a degree in Engineering. Ed married his wife, Grace in 1949. He was employed by General Motors until his retirement in 1980. Among other interests, he enjoyed golfing with his friends at Clio Country Club.

Ed is survived by two sons, Ed of Flushing and Jim and wife, Janice of Ann Arbor. He was preceded in death by his wife Grace in 2001. The family extends thanks to the staff at Davita Flushing Dialysis.
