

RICE, Jimmie Carl – age 78 passed away, on February 22, 2017 in Flushing, Michigan. Jimmie was born on July 23, 1938 in Carey, Ohio to the late John and Beatrice Rice. Jimmie married the love of his life, Dolores Conant on August 15, 1959 in East Leroy, MI. Together they built a life full of love and happiness. Both graduated from Athens High School and went on to attend Western Michigan University together. Upon graduation, as a member of the WMU Bronco Battalion (ROTC) Jimmie was commissioned as an officer in the US Army. After his honorable discharge, he began his career as a Senior Systems Engineer for IBM where he worked for over 30 years. Jimmie enjoyed many sports such as football, golf, fishing, and baseball. He was a charter member of the King of Glory Lutheran Church in Flushing, and had been an active member of the local Jaycees (Junior Chamber). Jimmie was a wonderful man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughters, Sara (Christian) Quinn and Julia (Scott) Hoornstra; grandchildren, Dylan Quinn an Kyra Quinn; sister, Mary Bradley; brothers, Glen (Sandi) Rice, Ernie (Rae) Rice; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dolores Ann Rice; son, Kevin Rice; brother, John Rice; and sister, Brenda Sue Rice. A memorial service will be held at King of Glory Lutheran Church-6012 E. River Rd., Flushing, Michigan, at a time to be determined in the future. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to King of Glory Lutheran Church in memory of Jimmie. Arrangements under the direction of Reigle Funeral Home/Sunset Chapel, Flushing, MI.
