Michael was born on January 26, 1950, in Flint, Michigan to the late George and June (Hamilton) Thodoroff.
Mike lived a life that truly embodied the spirit of community and dedication. He served as a board member for the Flint YMCA for many years and dedicated much of his time to serving the Flint Y and Camp Copneconic. He was also a very active member of the Genesee County Historical Society, championing the history of Flint and surrounding areas. Mike was an avid sports fan, himself playing basketball and softball even into his adult years and taking many laps in his race car around Auto City Speedway. After retiring from General Motors after 40 years, golfing became his main sport, often teeing off before sunrise. He loved tailgating and attending University of Michigan football games and catching all the latest updates on sport talk radio. He was able to share his gift with words by contributing as a writer and for On the Town Magazine for many years. He also began working for Factory One in Flint, MI, contributing his endless knowledge of General Motors and its history. He loved his time at Factory One, as it was not work for him, more of a chance to share his passion for the automobile industry and the rich history with others. Amidst all this activity in the community, he was the best Papa to his three grandchildren. Never missing a game, recital or event, Papa was not just present, but deeply involved in their lives, imparting life lessons and support along the way. They quickly learned that “Papa could fix anything” and he was always there for them. Mike would always end family holiday dinner prayers with “Nothing is more important than family.” Words can’t express how much he will be missed.
Michael is survived by his wife, Donna, children Allison and Nicholas, and grandchildren Lauren, Noah and Lia.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, George, mother, June and brother Rick.
