Barbara Rhea’s family left Germany for the United States in 1951 when her mother, Margarete Guttenberger Rehm, married Marian Kaczmarek after he was displaced from the Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Soon after arriving in New York, Barbara became a United States citizen at the age of 19. Putting herself through school she graduated as a registered nurse.
She is survived by her sons, Johnny and Peter, her grandchildren, Christopher, Riley, Victoria, and Grace, her sisters, Eva and Uschi.
Barbara loved antique shopping, following the stock market, politics, playing scrabble, fine dining , traveling and visiting with friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
