Born Vicenta Dolores Magay on April, 1949 in Puerto Princesa, Philippines, she was the youngest child of Arturo and Dolores Magay. Dolly had three siblings: Emma (Magay) Ingenito, Arturo, Jr., and her twin, Soledad Magay. With Manuel Magali, she had three children: KC, Moe, and AJ, whom she considered her “whole world.”
Professionally, Dolly graduated from Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines with a Law Degree. She then ran an employment agency in Manila until 1997. After relocating to New York City later that year, she worked as a healthcare cash control manager before retiring in 2015.
In her spare time, Dolly enjoyed reading mystery novels, traveling with her children, and watching copious amounts of mystery TV and Westerns. Her favorites included the NCIS Franchise, Law and Order, Chicago PD/Hospital, and Matlock. Known for her dry wit and humor, Dolly was readily available to provide a sharp comment to her friends and family. Her sarcastic humor was well-loved, also a trait her children believe they inherited from her.
Dolly was also known for her cooking prowess. Friends and family would rave about her ability to cook the most amazing Filipino food. From making oversized Lumpia, to tender Kare-Kare, decadent pancit, and crispy seafood pancakes (Okoy), everyone kept coming back to her home for the holidays.
Dolly is preceded in death by her parents, Arturo and Dolores, as well as her siblings: Emma, Art, and Sol. Dolly is survived by her three children, KC, Moe, and AJ; her nephew, Robert; her grand-niece, Emma; and several cousins and close friends.
