Effie Tsigakos

Effie Tsigakos, 91, passed away on May 10, 2026. Born on March 9, 1935, Effie will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude for a life shaped by intellect, devotion, and quiet distinction.

From an early age, Effie’s discipline and brilliance were evident—she was both a High School Valedictorian and a College Valedictorian. Her lifelong devotion to learning found a natural home in history and literature, where she was recognized as a scholar with a careful mind and a lasting reverence for the written word. An avid reader, she carried a steady curiosity and thoughtful perspective that enriched those around her.

Effie also held a tender place in her heart for animals, and her love for them was a reflection of the gentleness and care that marked her life.

Effie was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas Tsigakos. She was the beloved mother of John Tsigakos, Catherine Tsigakos, and the late Peter Tsigakos.

Visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358, on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Demetrios' Greek Orthodox Church, 84-35 152nd St, New York, NY 11432, on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 9:30 am.

Interment will follow at Cypress Hills Cemetery, 833 Jamaica Ave, New York, NY 11208, on May 15, 2026.

Effie Tsigakos will be deeply missed and respectfully remembered.
