Happy Early Mothers Mom.  Irs Daddys birthday today n mine too.  Just found a picture maybe you can see it from Heaven.  Im a believer.  The only pucture you ever toook n was happy. Ah. I cant post it yet.

My mother wanted the song Amazing Grace and my dad had a beautiful choir.

A  Eulogy for My Mom,

I spoke to my mom more than I did anyone else, but she didn't know that.  She was the person I went to first.  She was always there for me no matter what, even if we had disagreed on something the night before.  She was always ready to send me her meatballs and spaghetti and she would have my dad drive it over to me, I lived nearby.

My mother loved being around family and friends. In the 70's my mom's family from Brooklyn and my father's family built summer homes around each other.  There they were able to gather and see each other more often.  This made them happy and closer.  

At our country house, we had live ducks, chickens, and a rabbit given to me by my mother's brother Uncle Gino.  Every night my mom would bring a dish of food to the ducks and they would chase her when the food was done because they wanted more.

My Mom always made sure my dad ate the right food...  She made sure his chicken soup was healthy, without salt, and he loved his rubbard, salad and chicken.  Right before we left to go home to Jamaica estates, from the country house on holiday weekends  she made lemon chicken on the bbq on our red domed grill.  My Dad would take a nap before he drove us all home.  We listened to country music on our ride home.  I knew all the words of the songs till this day…Glen Cambell, John Denver and many others.  The country house was where we were the happiest.  

She loved her Grandson, Michael.  She made chicken cutlets for him every night when he was young because that was all he liked.  She made sure he had everything and more that he needed and wanted.  Together we gave him everything he needed and we loved him dearly.

She made sure my dad drive her everywhere (lol) … to church, to work at St,. John's and for antiques upstate in the 70's.  She gave me her affinity for antiques till this day.  She had me doing fleamarkets at age 11 at  Captain Midnights Fleamarket on Route 32 upstate. We would price everything the night before and at 6 am on Saturday mornings we made our way to the fleamarket to set up.  They bought me my lunch at 12 or so and I was having the entrepreneur having fun.  Dad was the chauffeur, once again.  

My Mom lived her life helping many people.  While working in the Bursar's office helping students at St. John's, to donating to charity and sending Christmas presents to my father's fellow workers at Time Warner. She, of course, loved everything Italian. It was in her blood.  She planned many Italian events at St. John's University and my Dad received donations from restaurateurs he knew around Queens who would donate food for the events.  He will keep the Italian events going in her memory.  She would want him to.

She did everything for her family and people she knew and loved… anything she could possibly do.

My mother was inexplicably a one in a million person who wanted the best for everyone in her life and she showed it all the time.

I love you Mom and we will miss you so much, words can not express.

Dear Paul and Family,

My deepest sympathy to you all on the loss of your lovely Fina.  Just heard the sad news from Bernie.  I remember so well meeting you both at the iCS reunions.  The first one occurred on your wedding anniversary and you danced together in celebration.  I chatted with Fina and learned of the job she so loved at St. John's University, very close to your family home of so many years in Jamaica Estates.

It was sweet seeing all your family pictures on this site.  I know I saw legendary SJU coach Lou Carnesecca, but did I also spot Ben Gazzara?  You have many happy memories to treasure.

As you know, I am the sister of your late classmate Tommy Henry.  My mother's wake was also at Frederick's Funeral Home and both of my parents, plus many aunts, uncles and cousins rest at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery.  A beautiful, peaceful place.

May your dear Fina rest in peace.

I had such a beautiful talk with Fina in February of this year when Paul's cousin, my mother, Carmela Geselbracht died in Nanaimo, British Columbia. It was so good to hear that New York accent again after nearly 50 years when the last time my family visited everyone in New York.  Fina had such a warm laugh and comforting voice.  It is always sad to lose another one of this older generation but thankfully we have had so much time to enjoy their presence.

Dear Paul, Michele and family, Knowing Fina since I was a student worker at St. John's Office of the Bursar, I got to know her as a beautiful, kind, spunky and loving person who loved her job and her family. She will be deeply missed.

Dear Paul and family,

     Hopefully good memories and great love will sustain and comfort you all.  The loving care that you provided is the truest love.  We're so sorry for your loss.

Fina's love for the St. John's community was always so evident.  Being knowledgeable and a hard worker made her a true asset to all of us who worked with her.  And didn't she have a flare for making all things look beautiful , especially anything Italian.  We will miss you, Fina.
