James Papadopoulos

He was the beloved husband of the late Dimitra. James was a cherished father to Chris Papadopoulos and his wife Michele, and Maria Koumbouros and her husband Tegerides. He was a devoted pappou to his grandchildren: Demetra, Alexander (Vasilia), Emanuel, Ariana, James, Vicki, Demetra, and Sophia. James is also survived by his dear brother, John.

An Army Veteran of the Korean War, James was a humble and kind man, known for his generosity and willingness to help others without seeking recognition. He loved being Greek as much as he loved being American. Traveling to the United States at a young age, he brought all of his family to the country. His love for his family, especially his grandchildren, was profound.

The visitation will be held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Shrine Church, located at 196-10 Northern Blvd, Flushing , NY 11358, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. The Funeral Liturgy will follow at the same location from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Flushing Cemetery, 163-06 46th Ave, Flushing, NY 11358, from 11:15 am to 11:30 am.

James will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication to his family, and his love for both his Greek and American heritage.
