I would like to offer my condolences to the Delerme Family.  
Jan was very dear to me and my family.   He was especially dear to my mother, to whom he
referred as « Tide ».  He told me that she showed him how to take his first steps.  
Jan provided support to us over the years in so many ways.  My earliest memories of Jan was when he was my high school chemistry teacher in Haiti.   Whenever I had challenges understanding chemistry formulas, Jan was helpful in showing me how to solve them.
  As an adult living in NY, I could count on Jan to give me insightful advice.  I also cannot forget when my mom was very sick and  bed ridden, Jan never missed a Sunday without bringing her communion.  These memories of Jan  and many more will remain with my family and me forever.  We will miss him dearly.

A memory:  We were little in Les Cayes.  It was New Year’s Day 1961 (I think). Mon oncle Jan treated us to the Cinema to see a film called :  Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, aka Les Septs Femmes de Barberousse.  This was such a treat!
Last night, I watched this movie, toasted to Mon oncle Jan. I felt joy, I felt his affection for us. I shall miss him. The last we saw each other was two months ago for his birthday. 
Mon oncle Jan, may you rise in glory!
