I forgot the day but my subconscious obviously didn’t.  I dreamt of John and I getting in trouble like we did when we were kids. 

Still think about this guy every day.

I feel beyond blessed to have had Johnny as my "brother". He meant so much to me. He was the most compassionate, caring and loving person I knew - always there for you, and truly caring about you. The world will never be the same without him.
God blessed him with a beautiful wife and such wonderful children.
His legacy will live through them.
You will never be forgotten Johnny - you will always live in my heart.

Just heard today of John's passing. I am devastated by the sad news. John was so kind to me and always made me laugh. My condolences to the family.

Words cannot adequately express our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to the Di Vanna family and all those who knew John. We - the New Jersey Mets opening day contingent (Glenn, Joanne, Frank, Fred and Andrea were shocked and saddened to learn of John's passing. We came to know John and "The Tailgate Gang," when we stumbled upon Franco's in 2010. Our regular spot,  Leo's Lattcini-Mama's Deli was closed. So we were looking for a place to eat and have a beer. We spoke with the owner of Franco's at the time, and he said maybe you can join the guys in the back. Well, we were immediately welcomed and greeted with open arms by John, his brother, Burt, and all of the guys. It was like we were  family. We kept that tradition for 10 years until Covid. John and his family put so much work into those Mets opening days and the food was always an amazing Smörgåsbord. He was always so gracious and kind. We always appreciated John's hard work and hospitality.  We will miss him.  God Bless.

We are so sad to hear of John's passing. My parents (Tony & Camilla) were his Godparents. The pictures show a beautiful family - so much love and togetherness. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
May God comfort those who remain and grant him eternal rest.

John and I grew up together.  Our mother’s came from the same Italian town and settled on the same street in Corona to raise their families.  

We knew each other since we were in diapers and got in trouble together like no other.  From riding bikes, playing stick ball,  going to St Leo’s,  to playing in rock band in my garage,  we did everything together.  

John and I were a yr apart. He was the big brother I looked up to. 
 Growing up I always wanted to be like John. (And  I think JD wanted to be a little like me although why I will never know?) His easy way with people, his skills as a leader, his moral center; all the things that made him special, I took as my examples to live up too.  But one thing more than any, JD always knew where to go eat!  Man !  How can one person know so much about food!  

JD and I both became engineers and worked together for NYC the first 10 yrs after college.   Those were great days.  

Never was there a day in my life where I didn’t have JD to rely on. I always knew if I had a problem, just reach out and he would have a solution.  What a great person he was. He was my Big Brother and I will always love him . 

I was deeply saddened by John's passing. My sincere condolences to the entire DiVanna Family.

Dear Lina, words say nothing to express the feelings of deep sorrow for the loss of our dear John.
