I was part of his last class, and he was an amazing and understanding professor who helped me become more confident in speech than I had been previously. He was extremely passionate about his field. My deepest condolences 

I had the pleasure of competing against John and the St. John's speech team for four years in the 80's. He was a stellar individual performer and one of the nicest guys I ever met. I always looked forward to seeing him each week. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I am so disheartened to hear of Professor Giordanella’s passing, he was a man of authenticity and great empathy and intellect. I’m honored to have met him and have been taught a class by him this semester. Hearing of all the obstacles he had to endure this year truly hurt to hear and I know he was very strong for us students. He cared for us more than his own struggles.  My prayers goes out to his family during this very difficult time Rest In Peace 🙏🏽🕊

As a student of Professor Giordanella, I was able to learn so much from him. He had a passion for public speaking and the New York Mets, and he was a joy in class. I was deeply saddened to learn of his passing, and I will always admire his humor and strength. In the short time I knew him, I knew he was loved and admired by many, and I will never forget the impact he had on my academic career. May he Rest In Peace. 

     I knew John during our undergraduate years at St. John’s from 1982 to 1986. We had several Government classes together. He was a super bright guy with a sense of humor to match his intellect. He was always warm, kind, caring and engaging. I ran into him occasionally on campus through the years at St. John’s events. His passion was teaching speech and rooting for his beloved New York Mets. He was an absolute prince of a man and I am very saddened to hear of his passing. I’m sure he is in heaven now,  no doubt with a smile from this gentle soul. 

As a student of Professor Giordanella this past semester I can confidently say how great he was. He always made class a time to look forward to with all of his humor. He took time out to give each and every student beneficial feedback while being so encouraging. I can tell he wanted the best for his students, allowing us to both email and even text his personal number so we can easily contact him with any questions or concerns. It had been such a great semester and I’m so lucky to have had him as my Public Speaking Professor. My condolences go out to his family and friends. May he Rest In Peace. 

I had the pleasure of being a student of Professor Giordanella’s this past semester at St. John’s University.  He was one of the sweetest, most understanding people I have ever met.  I always looked forward to coming to his class every Tuesday and Friday, and he always made such an effort to get everyone involved in class discussion and participate. I had Professor Giordanella as my interpersonal pharmacy professor at St. John’s. He was by far the best professor I have ever had. He really loved what he was doing and loved building a connection with his students. He was always understanding and cared a lot about his students. He would make jokes during class to make it entertaining for us. He always had a smile on his face when coming to class and tried his best to always be there for us. He was the best. I worked as an umpire for a lot of teams in John’s league they were all pretty evenly matched which made it good games to do. If ever there was a problem you could call John and he would do his best to rectify the issue. I know the teams in his league liked and he will be sorely missed. On behalf of myself and my fellow umpires that knew John

My daughter met Prof. Giordanella at St. John’s University this past semester as a student in his public speaking class. 

Based on my conversations with her I got the impression he was supportive of the students in his class and created a an environment in which his students felt confident enough to take “risks” in their learning.

More recently. In a communication with my daughter about her having to miss class because she was sick it was obvious he knew his students. After she shared what he had sent her, his sense of humor was evident and he put her mind at ease about having to miss his class at such a crucial point of the semester. I have no doubt he will be missed by the St. John’s Community.

So sorry for your family’s loss.
