I met the Coopers when dad, Murray, drove for my (then) boss at Epic Records. I’ll always remember you guys, because everything was always brighter whenever you would be around, and it was always so great spending time with you. Lance, sending my old friend a (((hug))) from NJ.

When I say, Where’s Jon, Bella goes to the couch where u guys hung out together.

We have been thinking about you all the time and knowing this day and moms birthday in heaven as well. Missing you especially because of these last years together sharing thoughts and memories. God bless your children and grandchildren who loved you and my sisters Jayne and Nancy who I love dearly and Margot who cared for u. I promised u that I wouldn’t let anything happen to you and I’m sorry my only sibling.Say hi to all our love ones and don’t forget Teri and Fran!

When we were closer up north especially, making visits to the family all around the city always felt like an adventure. You always were so happy to see us. I remember your laugh especially and I felt really comforted by it -- I think we all inherited a distinct way of laughing from you, and in some strange way, I think that makes feel more connected to you than most people would consider.

I remember this night well. We were at the Outback in SI and dad bought the girls “silly bandz” which were all the rage back then.

Hi I'm Michael Cooper, his nephew. I loved my Uncle Jon so much! Here is a picture from a dinner we had together. On the left is our friend Carl. My mom Alberta in the middle. And Uncle Jon on the right of course. Also, our dog Bella made a special appearance. He would come over often. He loved spending time with his family. He was a joy to share a meal with. We cherished his company. We miss him very much. 

On March 13, 2022, Jon Cooper died in Queens, New York. He was 76 years old.  He was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 16, 1945.


Jon was a passionate automobile enthusiast and would build two very successful careers around that passion. In 1977 he would take over the family limousine business. During this time he had the opportunity to drive some of the most famous people in the entertainment business, including Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, and Barbra Streisand. Ten years later, Jon would move into automobile sales, specializing in Lincoln/Mercury and later Lexus. He worked his way up to the rank of general manager and won numerous sales awards before retiring. Jon was also a big animal lover.


Jon is survived by his son William and daughter-in-law Lisa; daughter Michele and son-in-law Jason Herman; as well as six grandchildren: Kayla Kier (and her husband Alex), Timothy Cooper, Peter Cooper, Stephen Cooper, Gabrielle Herman, and Caroline Herman; brother Lance (and his wife Alberta), and nephew Michael. He is also survived by his dear friend and companion Margo Bodurian. 


A memorial service will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard Flushing, NY 11358 on April 23rd, 2022 from 3-5.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to carsforkids.org.
