

Born on March 23, 1943, in the valley of Guajaca, San José de Las Matas, Dominican Republic, Juan Tomas was a man of strength, warmth, and deep devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Maximiliana, with whom he shared many cherished years. Together, they built a strong and loving family rooted in care, respect, and tradition.
He was the proud father of Pedro Tomas and Juan Antonio, and a devoted father-in-law to Odalis Altagracia Morel and Alba Rodríguez-Morel. Juan Tomas was the adored grandfather of Vanessa, Kevin, Annabella, Douglas, Dahlia, Pedro, and Dayna. He was also a loving step-grandfather to Yamilé Peña. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Keilyn, Kylie, Elizabeth, and Jaden, each of whom brought light and laughter into his life.
He is also survived by his brothers Vinicio, Máximo, and Ramón. He was predeceased by his parents José Dolores Morel and Ana Elena Herrera, and his brothers Roberto, Gilberto, and Juan Antonio who now welcome him with open arms.
Juan Tomas had a passion for life’s simple and enduring joys. He loved playing dominoes with his family, caring for his cows, and walking his fields in the Dominican Republic. He was passionate about agriculture and enjoyed cheering on his favorite team, the New York Mets. His deep wisdom, easy smile, and unwavering love will be forever remembered by all who knew him.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
A visitation for Juan will be held Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday June 9, 2025 at Our Lady of Sorrows RC Church 104-11 37th Avenue, Corona, NY. Entombment to follow at St Michael's Cemetery.
