June Creegan was taken suddenly from her family and friends on May 16th 2020. June’s death is felt most deeply by the love of her life, Patrick, to whom she would have been married 43 years in July. Pat & June were as inseparable as they come; it was so rare to see one without the other. Pat has devoted his life to taking care of his wife, and when he suffered a stroke 3 years ago, she was grateful to return the favor. They will forever be remembered for walking hand-in hand everywhere they went.
June is also survived by her daughter Danielle, and her daughter and son-in-law Deirdre and Mike Cardarelli, and their 3 children, Samantha, Kristina and Michael, who were always in her thoughts. June will forever be lovingly known as “Baby Junie” to her sisters, Barbara Failla and Grace Yesmontas, as well as numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews throughout the country.
June was devoted to her family and also to her many close friends who became part of the family; she never ended a conversation without an “I love you” always reminding us how important we were to her. June loved a good conversation, whether about her strong political views, something she read on her IPAD, saw on the news, or just checking in with whomever she was speaking to keeping up to date on the latest and making sure everyone was doing okay. June also loved to play the slots, in later years on her IPAD, and loved playing her Wordscapes. June also loved writing letters and adding personalized notes to store bought cards to remind each of us of how precious we were to her.
June was raised in Woodside, moving to Fresh Meadows to raise her family in 1977. June was a proud graduate of Queens College, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Hunter College, where she received her Master’s Degree in Education. June was extremely proud of her work as a NYC public school teacher, keeping in touch with many students and their families throughout the years. She touched so many with her work, leaving indelible memories to last a lifetime.
June was a woman of great faith; she was proudly raised Roman Catholic, devotedly attending mass as often as she could, even learning to use Facebook most recently to continue to participate in her beloved Holy Family Parish during this pandemic. For many years June and Pat held in-home Pre-Cana sessions in their home to share their great faith and tips and tricks that kept their marriage strong for so many years. June was also a proud Eucharistic Minister for many years, until illness made it impossible for her to continue, although she always hoped to return to this ministry that meant so much to her; in more recent years, she assisted with the scheduling of those ministers to continue to stay connected to this ministry that she loved. June also was a faithful member of Holy Family’s Consolation Committee, a ministry that provides support to help those who were grieving; her only hope was that she was able to provide some comfort to those during their most difficult time. June also participated in a weekly Faith-Sharing group, where she was grateful to make so many friends that shared her deep faith.
There will be no services held at this time. It is hoped that in the future we can all get together to celebrate June’s life and share our great memories. June was a charitable woman, donating to a variety of worthy causes over the years; the family requests that if you feel inclined, please donate to your favorite charity in June’s memory.
