Eulogy (Part 1)
‘Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal’
Linda Joyce Eamigh Scheu held many titles through the years. Every one of them she mastered. She was a daughter to Chuck and Audrey, a sister to Charlie, a wife to George. She was a mother to Christine, Tracy and me, a grandmother to Danny, Kaitlynn, Kayla, Emily, Timmy, and Christopher. She was a godmother to Kayla, an Aunt, a Cousin, a friend.
Friends and family have a hole in their hearts that once was filled by the late Linda Joyce Eamigh Scheu. She made loyal friends throughout her 72 years because she was the kind of person who was devoted and gave you 100% of her love and attention. Linda was an amazing person who was extremely charitable, trustworthy, and honorable. 
Linda supported her community through volunteer work at the East Flushing Civic Association. She supported the various police and Navy organizations by attending shields meetings and events. She was a part of the Widows and Children’s organization. 

Eulogy (Part 2)
In addition to her dedication to her community, Linda always maintained close ties with extended family from NY, Maryland, Pennsylvania, California, Texas, Kentucky, and Florida. She attended and hosted holiday celebrations, vacations, weddings, communions, funerals, graduations, birthdays -- if she could get there she would be there.  She constantly posted photos on the fridge, mantle and china cabinet, even Facebook, whatever it took to stay connected. Family was her center. 
Our mom was one of the strongest people we knew. Thirty-three years ago, at the early age of 39, Linda became a widow and she raised 3 children on her own. We all grew up to be successful and respectable people in our communities. This didn’t happen by chance but from our mom’s upbringing and guidance. She maintained a home, worked part time at Bleeker Junior High and provided everything her children needed. She filled our childhood with parties, birthday celebrations, vacations, and family gatherings.  She showed us parts of the world that some people can only dream about. She took us to the fires of the Hawaiian volcanoes and to the icy glaciers of Alaska. 

Eulogy (Part 3)
She guided her kids to and through college and into adulthood. She was proud of her children, she was proud to say that she has a daughter who is a doctor, a daughter who is a teacher and a son who is a CPA.
Mom continued to support her children and was so happy to see them build lives of their own, getting married, buying houses, and having children. The six grandchildren that she cared for over the last 15 years made her so happy. She made every costume parade, soccer, baseball, softball and basketball game, tennis match, concert, art show, award ceremony, baptism, communion, confirmation, everything! The love that she had for her grandchildren was equal to the love that she had for her kids. That is a lot of love but she always made room for more: for friends, for family, for neighbors – she was AMAZING!
Today’s shared memories should not just be only from her kids but from her cherished grandchildren as well. I would like to share some of their thoughts now:

Eulogy (Part 4)
Grandma was a part of many memories; Kraft Mac and cheese and chicken nuggets were on the lunch menu and scrabble on the iPad was played to allow Grandma time to rest in the afternoons. Grandma always followed through on her promises and spoiled us all the time, not just on Christmas. She would make special lunch dates with us and take us to many places like street fairs, carnivals, movies, playgrounds, preschool, gymnastics classes, White Post Farms, and the circus. While in her car she played the Toy Story music CD for us and we all sang along knowing every word. Grandma attended mostly every sports game we had except if it was a Saturday morning, because that was her standing date to get her hair done with longtime friend turned family, Adele. Grandma always made us feel so special and took an interest in the things we loved. She kept our drawings and coloring book pages, our homemade crafts, and all of our pictures through the years.

Eulogy (Part 5)
Grandma was there for us, to help us with our homework or to fix a cut when we fell off our bike. If it were up to Grandma, she would still be fighting so she could see us grow up but her body had enough. Grandma is happier because now she has no more pain and can be reunited with our Grandpa and her parents. Grandma was one of a kind, and we are all lucky to have known this smart, kind and beautiful person. We all have our moments where we can be strong one minute and break down the next. We all feel pain right now and it will take a while to get through this loss but Grandma would not want anyone to be upset, she would want us to be happy. You know you can still talk to Grandma; her body may not be alive but her spirit is and it is within all of us. Just because she is not physically here does not mean that she isn’t here at all. 

Eulogy (Part 6)
Some holidays such as Thanksgiving may never be the same. That was her holiday and she always made the best meals. We all loved her cranberry sauce. We must remember the good moments we had with her by looking at pictures, sharing stories or remembering her delicious French toast. We can take as much time as we need to heal but for now when it’s raining and you hear thunder you will know that Grandma is doing what she loves —  bowling with her family.
Although Mom has passed, her memory will live on. Stories will be shared during Thanksgiving dinner of her strength and good will but she won’t be there telling us to sit down to eat and we will all miss her cranberry sauce and apple pie. Stories of how fun she was will be told on Christmas but there will be no gifts that have gift tags with “From” crossed out and replaced with “Love” mom or grandma. Her memory will live on through her family, the family that she supported, the family that she loved. 

Eulogy (Part 7)
We will continue to remember her in our hearts and keep her spirit alive through our memories from pictures, videos, and stories. 
She left a strong legacy, in her family and friends that will last for generations to come. While she will be loved and remembered by many, we can all do our part to keep those memories alive.  Please continue to share your favorite stories, memories, and photos -- we know she will smile each time. Remember, the more we mention her name the longer and stronger the memories will be. Please speak and think of Linda often.


Linda has touched many lives  and will be missed by all who knew her. Linda was the glue that held everyone together.. We had an awesome time when we went to Jamaica . We had so many good memories of Lin. She had a laugh that was infectious.  Linda will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Rest easy Lin. 


Mrs Scheu  always made me feel welcome in her home. We will remember her always. Our deepest condolences for your loss to  the entire family.

It all began with a dinner party and bibs disguised as napkins on a set table. Once unrolled to reveal the word Grandma, the joy started, the tears of happiness rolled down her cheek, and the jumping up and down began with a smile that never stopped. Tuesdays were spent in our house for several years with our cousin Kayla. Grandma attended mostly every sports game we had except if it was a Saturday morning because that was her standing date to get her hair done with Adele. Grandma went to far distances to be with us like flying all the way to California to surprise us in Disneyland. Grandma always made us feel so special and took an interest in things we loved. She kept our drawings and coloring book pages, our homemade crafts, and all of our pictures through the years. All these great memories make the title of Grandma so special. We will continue to remember her in our hearts and keep her spirit alive through our memories from pictures, videos, and stories. We love you, forever.


Some of you know her by the name of Mom, Sister or Grandma. She was a wonderful person, she was always there for everyone. She was there either to help you with your homework or fix your cut when you fell off your bike. She helped my family out a lot by watching Christopher and I. If it was up to Grandma she would still be fighting so she could see us grow up but her body had enough. She was smart, beautiful and talented. I was lucky enough to get to spend 13 years with her. We should cherish every moment that we have with our loved ones because you never know when they will be gone. Grandma is happier because now she has no more pain and can be reunited with my Grandpa and her parents. It’s hard to believe that this could be happening because she was so healthy but life has a way of turning on you. Grandma was a one of a kind person that you don’t meet every day and we were all lucky enough to get to know this smart, kind and beautiful person. We all have our moments were we can be strong one minute and breaking down the next, I know I do. We all feel pain right now and it will take a while to get through this, but Grandma would not want to see you upset, she would want you to be happy. You know you can still talk to Grandma, her body may not be alive but her spirit is and it is within you. Just because she is not physically here does not mean that she isn’t here at all. My parents were always jealous when they found out I got her delicious breakfast treat. For now when it’s raining and you hear thunder you know that Grandma is doing what she loves bowling with her family.

To my dear cousin, who made me laugh, feel loved and included always within our wonderfully large, gregarious, diverse family.  From tales on the stairs, to dancing on the patio, to sharing  birthdays, weddings and funerals, in times of great joy and great sadness ,you my dear friend and cousin showed me how to  move forward and forever be yourself.  You knew what true hardness and sadness and lonesomeness meant and was determined with every breath that we would not; I am grateful. Thank you.

Mom, grandmother, sister, cheer leader. One thing I will always remember is mom became everyone’s biggest fan and cheerleading section.  It may have been an art project, a job, a promotion, or a sporting event, no matter the context she thought it was fabulous and was there to lend support. I received nearly weekly updates about everything going on in NY from weather to siblings to grandkids – she was so proud of all of you!  You were her greatest joy. 

Hello Cousins,
My heart goes out to all of you. We will all miss your Mom and Grandma. She was a wonderful, sweet lady. I remember her beautiful wedding... I was a teenager at the time, and she looked like a princess to me. It was important to her to always put her kids first, especially after losing George, and making sure you were all well taken care of.  We'll miss Cousin Linda. She and Nana Luther, my Mom, and some of the other New York cousins who have gone before us, are probably all planning the biggest New year's Eve party heaven has ever seen. Love to you All.


I had 44 years with my mom. To share a lifetime of memories would cause me to run out of space so I’ll keep it to a few that show her true spirit and character. Mom loved to travel and go on cruises so much so that she gifted us a cruise for our graduation. She planned the vacation by where we wanted to go and based on our interests; she has always put others above herself. As I got older with a family of my own, Mom joined us on several trips including Sesame Place and Disney World; the joy of seeing her grandchildren experience this magic made her the happiest lady on the planet. The best was when my Mom showed up in Disneyland, CA. She had longed to see the park again and experience it through the eyes of her grandchildren. Andy made this secret plan with her and this was a great surprise for me! She traveled by herself on a plane to surprise us. Great memories. Mom was all about surprises; surprise graduation parties, surprise bridal shower, surprise baby shower and everything was always perfect! I never knew. She was really good about creating elaborate celebrations. Mom never missed an opportunity for a party or a trip, a gathering or a celebration. Mom made it to every event, lunch/dinner, holiday, backyard party, birthday, and milestone such as birth, Baptism, Communion, Confirmation, Graduation, and Grandparent Day. She attended every concert, recital, production, ceremony, and countless sporting events. She was so proud of all of us and cared about all of us before ever thinking about herself. When I wasn’t available, my Mom would volunteer to be there for her grandchildren at VIP Day, several holiday shows, gymnastics lessons, or mostly any favor I asked. She loved every minute she spent with her grandchildren. I know she lived her dash fully; that she has left us with so many wonderful memories but that doesn’t make any of this easier. Saying goodbye to my best friend, my confidant, my constant, my go to person, my role model, my Mom is so hard. RIP.
