Mary Catherine Romano, daughter of the late Cleon and Magdalene Cram passed away peacefully at her home on June 15th, 2021. She would have been 98 on August 18th. Mary was born and raised with her late brother Kenneth in Claremont New Hampshire. She achieved great honors by graduating as the valedictorian of her class. Afterwards, Mary moved to New York as she lived in Queens and proudly raised her late son Gary and her daughter Dorothy.
Mary commuted to New York City everyday where eventually she earned the prestigious title Vice President and Senior Economist for Merrill Lynch until her age of retirement. She was a pioneer for the working women’s movement. Highly respected as a mentor for many who worked for her as well as was recognized greatly by her superiors.
Mary will be remembered for all her achievements and for her beautiful traits impacting the life of so many others. She was an exceptional woman who has now left footprints in all of our hearts. She was a true treasure to our family, never sugar coating her words as she ‘told it like it is.’ Mary Catherine Romano, was the beautiful hierarchy of the family, always giving her honest loving advice, having a unique point of view that would open a person’s mind to always see a different perspective. She was beyond wise and quite proficient with numbers. Mary would find enjoyment playing cards, especially bridge with her close group of friends and playing scrabble creating loving memories with her family. She would happily make homemade jellies and bread for whomever she shared some loving time with. She has cared for so many that have crossed her path and for us we are honored that we were part of her story in life.
Mary is survived by her loving daughter Dorothy, her daughter in-law Georgine, her granddaughter Melissa and her husband David, her granddaughter Samantha, and her husband Sebastian, her four great grandchildren, Morgan, Cameron, Kaitlyn, and Colin as well as her niece and nephew Kathleen and Peter along with their spouses.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday June 23, 2021 between 3:00pm – 7:00pm in Chapel D at Frederick Funeral Home.
Mary the matriarch of the Romano family, will be forever missed but her legacy and her love will live in all the lives she touched. We share in our sorrow but we also share the joy in knowing she had an incredible wonderful life that we truly had the honor to be a part of.
