

Teresa Leticia Goenaga Noonan, a resident of Parkway Village in Jamaica, NY, and her beloved native Santa Marta, Colombia, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on the evening of Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the age of 93.
Born in Santa Marta, Colombia on September 27, 1932, Teresa was one of seven children of Carlos Goenaga, a prosecutor, and Manuela Goenaga. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Finance from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. After gaining professional experience at Shell Oil and Celanese in Colombia, she embraced the opportunity to relocate to the USA in 1966 with Celanese in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Later relocating to New York City, she met her beloved husband, Jack Noonan, and married in 1970. They together moved to Parkway Village, an integrated community built for United Nations staff, to raise their family. While raising two young sons, Teresa became a naturalized U.S. citizen and pursued further education, earning a B.A. in Accounting from Queens College. From the 1980s through 1998, Teresa served as a Revenue Agent for the IRS Manhattan District until retirement.
An avid advocate for tenant rights and community well-being, Teresa served for many years as Treasurer of the Parkway Village Tenants Association. She devoted time to her faith, serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Nicholas of Tolentine R.C. Church. Following her retirement, she channeled her civic interest in her native Santa Marta, serving as President of the Board of the Edificio Mendiguaca condominium and as a board member for the El Rodadero Civic Association and the Santa Marta Cathedral Foundation.
Teresa was the loving wife of Jack Noonan for 37 wonderful years. She is survived by her sons, John and Michael Noonan; her cherished grandson, Luke; her siblings, Patricia Goenaga Lascano and Jose Antonio Goenaga; five step-grandchildren; and many devoted nephews and nieces. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, staying informed of current events, and traveling. Her love, vibrant spirit, and determination will be missed deeply by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358.
Funeral mass service will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 9:30 AM at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Catholic Church, 150-75 Goethals Ave, Jamaica, NY.
Private cremation and burial services will follow.
