

Theoni Chrissochos, a loving mother, aunt and yiayia, fell asleep in the lord’s arms on December 3, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on December 31, 1936, in the beautiful, historic Klitoria, Kalavryta region of Greece, Theoni was known for her caring nature, tenacity, and dedication to her family and career. Her family in Greece was always a big part of her life regardless of the distance between them. She brought her children from the US to visit them often and did whatever she could to help everyone.
Theoni was a remarkable seamstress trained as a young girl in classical sewing techniques. She worked in Manhattan's Garment District, specializing in men’s suits and further expanded her expertise to women’s clothing, wedding gowns, and furs with exceptional skill and artistry. The quality of her work was admired by many and left a lasting impact on those who knew her professionally. She also entrepreneurially opened her own custom clothing boutique and owned and operated a small supermarket in Athens, Greece.
She was a loving mother to Catherine (Stephen) Leach, Vassilios (Despina) Chrissochos, and the late Pericly A. Jonson. Theoni was a cherished yiayia to granddaughters, Gabrielle T. Leach, Cassandra J. Leach, Triantafyilia Chrissochos, and Theoni Chrissochos. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great joy in doting on her four granddaughters. Theoni took much pride in keeping a beautiful home surrounded by a variety of flowers and birds in her garden. She had a passion for cooking and baking Greek specialties, especially spanakopita and pastitsio, which she lovingly prepared for her family and friends. Her culinary skills brought joy and comfort to those around her.
Visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, located at 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358, on December 7, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:30am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Shrine Church,196-10 Northern Blvd, New York, NY 11358, on December 8, 2025. Interment will follow at Flushing Cemetery, 163-06 46th Ave, New York, NY 11358.
Theoni Chrissochos will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will continue to inspire her family and friends.
