   Sincerest Condolences on the passing of our beloved Alex Friedman. My memories of Alex date back to when I was a little boy attending Shabbat Services at the Young Israel of Forest Hills. Alex served as a Gabbai, and would always check in on me to make sure that I was OK! I vividly recall his presence on 47th Street as I would help my Dad on Friday afternoons and on vacation days. Alex and Evelyn were just a few booths away at the jewelry exchange. Alex was never too busy to call me over to make "small talk". When I was of age, Alex made every effort to make sure that I found a Jewish wife. I can't recall anybody happier at my wedding than he, as he danced Hora after Hora even when it meant traveling to Miami to be present at the Simcha. In fact, Alex was a witness who participated in  the signing of my Ketubah. 
   Upon the passing of my beloved father, Jerry Rolnick, z"l, Alex made sure that, as per my father's wishes, arrangements for my Dad's funeral in Israel, eulogy and Shiva in New York, went along as my Dad would have liked. My father and Alex were very special life long friends. Alex, in his younger years, served as my father's stock broker. Later, they worked as colleagues in the jewelry line. They both shared a tremendous passion for Zionism and the State of Israel. 
   My memories go on and on....from the baskets of apples that Alex would bring over to our house on Sunday afternoon during the fall harvest season, to his and Evelyn's refusal to allow my mother to be "alone" after the untimely passing of my Dad.
  Alex.... You were a gentleman, a gentle man, a Zionist, a friend, a professional, a scholar, a loving father, and grandfather. You certainly left your mark on me. Alex, may your memory always serve as a blessing to each and everybody whose life you have touched. You will be missed but never forgotten.
